Task Force on January 1, 2000 to be administered in the same manner as the narcotics unit of the <br /> Snohomish County Sheriffs Office, which has been assigned to the Task Force since 1993; and <br /> WHEREAS the City of Everett has determined that the proposed assignments of the <br /> narcotics unit will not affect the ability of the Everett Police Chief to assign personnel as needed, <br /> and will provide residents of Everett greater protection from illegal narcotics trafficking; and <br /> WHEREAS the interlocal agreement between Participating Jurisdictions authorize the <br /> Task Force Commander, by agreement, to allocate assets forfeited to the Task Force among the <br /> involved investigating agencies commensurate with their participation; and <br /> WHEREAS the interlocal agreement between Participating Jurisdictions authorizes <br /> Snohomish County to execute on behalf of the Participating Jurisdictions all agreements and <br /> contracts recommended for approval by the Task Force Executive Board, by and through its <br /> chairman, for the purpose of administrating assets and resources available to the Task Force; and <br /> WHEREAS the Task Force Commander and Task Force Executive Board have <br /> determined that execution of this agreement is in the best interests of the Task Force and its <br /> Participating Jurisdictions, and have recommended that it be approved by Snohomish County on <br /> behalf of the Participating Jurisdictions. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE the Participating Jurisdictions and the City of Everett hereby agree <br /> as follows: <br /> 1. Purpose. The purpose of this interlocal agreement is to provide for the assignment of <br /> the Everett Police Department's narcotics unit consisting of at least six narcotics police <br /> officers and related equipment and supplies to the Task Force on a full time basis, and in <br /> consideration for such assignment to provide for distribution to the City of Everett a <br /> portion of such assets as may be forfeited during the term of this agreement as a result of <br /> Task Force action. <br /> 2. Duties of the City of Everett. The City of Everett will take the following <br /> actions: <br /> a. Assign at least six narcotics police officers and related equipment and <br /> supplies agreed upon by the Task Force Commander and the Everett Police Chief to <br /> the Task Force on a full time basis effective January 1, 2008. For purposes of this <br /> subparagraph, the phrase "related equipment and supplies" includes all equipment and <br /> supplies, including motor vehicles that are customarily available for use by the officers <br /> assigned to the Everett Police Department's narcotics unit. <br /> b. The City of Everett Police Department will make available to the Snohomish <br /> Regional Drug Task Force a sum agreed upon by the Chief of Police to be used as <br /> described in the Task Force 2008 operating budget. This fulfills the City of Everett's <br /> obligation under paragraphs 1 and 2a above to provide related equipment and supplies, <br /> S:\Administrative Services\Contracts\SRDTF Everett Interlocal 56 <br /> Page 2 of 5 <br />
