9 ' <br /> ar <br /> Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the <br /> , provisions of this Code shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon ; <br /> "' conviction of any such violation such person shall be punishable <br /> by a fine of not more than $300.00 or by imprisonment for not <br /> more than 90 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment. <br /> Section 3: Definitions and Abbreviations <br /> A. Sign - Any medium including its structure and <br /> component parts, which is used or intended to be used to attract <br /> attention to the subject matter for advertising purposes other <br /> than paint on the surface of a building. <br /> ' k <br /> B. Electric Sign - Any sign containing electrical <br /> wiring, but not including signs illuminated by an exterior light <br /> source. <br /> • C. Ground Sign - Any sign which is supported by one or <br /> ; more uprights, poles, or braces in or upon the ground other than <br /> a combination sign or pole sign, as defined by this Code. '. <br /> D. Pole Sign - Any sign supported wholly by a pole or <br /> ;; poles in the ground which are not a part of a building. The <br /> lower edge of the display surface shall be a minimum of ten feet <br /> ; (10' ) above the ground, to be classified as a pole sign. <br /> E. Projecting Sign - Any sign other than a wall sign, <br /> which projects from and is supported by a wall of a building or <br /> structure. <br /> F. Roof Sign - Any sign attached to roof framing, walls <br /> . and/or columns of the building on which the entire advertising <br /> ; display is above the roof level. <br /> G. Wall Sign - Any sign attached to or erected against <br /> ' the wall of a building or structure, with the exposed face of the <br /> sign in a plane parallel to the plane of said wall. <br /> H. Combination Sign - Any sign incorporating any <br /> combination of the features of ground, projecting, and roof signs. <br /> I . Temporary Sign - Any sign, banner, pennant, valance, <br /> or advertising display constucted of cloth, canvas, light fabric, <br /> cardboard, wallboard, or other light materials, with or without <br /> !! frames; intended to be displayed for a limited period of time only.; <br /> u i <br /> J. Display Surface - The area made available by the <br /> d sign structure for the purpose of displaying the advertising <br /> message. <br /> K. Approved Plastics - Only those slow-burning plastics <br /> such as cellulose acetate or methyl methacrylate or other plastics <br /> of no greater combustibility as now approved by the Underwriters <br /> Laboratories, Inc . for sign use (U. L. 48) . <br /> L. Incombustible Material - Any materials which will not <br /> ignite at, or below, a temperature of 1200° F. during an exposure <br /> of five minutes, and which will not continue to burn or glow at <br /> that temperature, as specified in the latest Uniform Building <br /> Code. <br /> -2- <br />
