<br /> Bid Item 80: Ductile Iron Pipe for Watermain, 14-Inch Diam.
<br /> Measurement and Payment: Unit Price per Linear Foot(LF)
<br /> Per linear foot pipe measurement shall be based on the slope distance from point to point.
<br /> I
<br /> The point of beginning or ending of measurement in any particular run of pipe shall be the
<br /> vertical intersection of the centerline of the pipe measured with the centerline of the
<br /> intersection pipe, or with the beginning or ending of any new linear length of valves or
<br /> I
<br /> couplings contained within the measured length. At changes in pipe size connected by a
<br /> reducer, the point of measurement shall be taken as the midpoint of the reducer.
<br /> The unit contract price for Ductile Iron Pipe For Watermain, -Inch Diam., shall constitute
<br /> I
<br /> full compensation for all labor, materials,tools and equipment necessary to furnish and install
<br /> the pipe, restrained joints (where shown on the Plans or as required by the Standard
<br /> Specifications and Special Provisions), and all fittings, including tees, crosses, reducers,
<br /> I
<br /> couplings, and sleeves required for complete installation along the run of each pipe size, as
<br /> shown on the Plans and specified herein, and additionally, shall include, but not be limited
<br /> to, the following:
<br /> 1
<br /> 1. Removal of structures or obstructions not specifically covered under other Bid Items.
<br /> This shall include, but not be limited to, thrust blocks, miscellaneous landscaping, and
<br /> sod as indicated on the Plans. Removal of existing water line to allow for installation of
<br /> new water line.
<br /> I
<br /> 2. All required potholing to verify locations of water service crossings and existing utilities.
<br /> The costs for pot-holing and excavation required to determine exact depths and
<br /> locations of other utilities shall be included with this Work with no direct compensation
<br /> I made.
<br /> 3. Utility or light pole holding in conformance with the requirements of the applicable utility
<br /> including, if necessary, arranging for the utility to hold poles and paying the associated
<br /> fees.
<br /> I
<br /> 4. Trench excavation and dewatering, installation of pipe, furnishing, placing and
<br /> compacting sand backfill for pipe bedding, furnishing, placing and compacting suitable
<br /> native material for trench backfill and placing and compacting imported backfill material.
<br /> I
<br /> No extra payment shall be made for removing, loading, hauling, and disposing of
<br /> displaced and unsuitable material.
<br /> 5. Maintenance, restoration and/or relocation, if required, of existing culverts, storm
<br /> I drainage pipe, other utilities and structures affected by construction that are to remain.
<br /> 6. Temporary and permanent thrust blocking and dead man blocks, and temporary and
<br /> permanent restraint systems.
<br /> 7. Ethafoam pads or sand backfill between watermain and other pipes.
<br /> I8. Maintenance of existing watermain and provisions for interim water service.
<br /> Coordination with COE Water Department for use of temporary water main pipe during
<br /> construction to provide temporary water service. All labor, materials and equipment
<br /> I
<br /> needed to provide temporary water service shall be included in this Work with no direct
<br /> compensation made.
<br /> 9. Pressure and purity testing of all watermains and shall include providing temporary blow-
<br /> ' offs, backflow prevention, air gap apparatus, flushing, and disinfecting as necessary for
<br /> testing in accordance with 7-09.3(24) of these Special Provisions and COE Standard
<br /> Drawing No. 526.
<br /> 10. Extra depth, including excavation, backfill and compaction required to clear known
<br /> Iburied utilities or other known obstacles.
<br /> 11. Abandonment of existing watermains as shown on the Plans, including cutting, draining
<br /> water and properly disposing, and plugging pipe at each end with a minimum of 2-feet
<br /> I
