I1 Acceptance of signs and notifications will be based on visual inspection that the <br /> 2 sign and notifications meet these requirements. <br /> I 3 <br /> 4 Site Cleanup of Biological and Physical Hazards <br /> 5 An initial cleanup of the site, including all preparatory work required to make the <br /> I 6 worksite sanitary and safe in accordance with applicable laws and with the <br /> 7 Contract, shall be completed to remove all individuals, encampments, and <br /> 8 personal property from areas signed "No Trespassing", and to address all <br /> I 9 10 biological and associated physical hazards present on the project. Necessary <br /> worker training, on and off site preparations, and personal protective equipment <br /> 11 shall be provided by the Contractor to complete this Work. If aggressive or <br /> 12 violent individuals are encountered, the Contractor shall notify the local law <br /> I 13 enforcement agency to assist them in clearing the Work area. <br /> 14 <br /> 15 Site cleanup of individual areas identified in the Health and Safety Plan shall be <br /> 16 performed no more than 30 days in advance of performing other Work in each <br /> 17 area. <br /> 18 <br /> I 19 20 The refuse generated by the site cleanup shall become the property of the <br /> Contractor and shall be removed from the project. Personal property shall be <br /> 21 handled as required by this Specification and applicable laws. <br /> I 22 <br /> 23 Removal, Storage and Return of Personal Property <br /> 24 Personal property may include radios, audio and video equipment, sleeping <br /> 25 bags, tents, stoves and cooking utensils, lanterns, flashlights, bed rolls, tarps, <br /> I 26 foam, canvas, mats, blankets, pillows, medication, personal papers, <br /> 27 photographs, books and other reading materials, luggage, backpacks or other <br /> 28 storage containers, clothing, towels, shoes, toiletries and cosmetics, clocks and <br /> 29 watches, and eye glasses. Personal property does not include building <br /> 30 materials such as wood products, metal, or rigid plastic. <br /> 31 <br /> I 32 Personal property items that are not refuse, contaminated, illegal or hazardous <br /> 33 shall be removed from the Work area and stored at a location near the project <br /> 34 site for return to the property owner. Items shall be placed in large transparent <br /> I 35 plastic bags and stored in a manner that protects them from adverse weather <br /> 36 and theft. Reasonable efforts shall be made to place all items from each <br /> 37 encampment into a separate bag. Each bag shall be labeled with an inventory <br /> I 38 39 to include a brief description of the contents, a description of the location that it <br /> was removed from, and the date that it was removed from the Work area. The <br /> 40 Contractor shall not open closed items of personal property unless, in its <br /> 41 determination, it is necessary to do so to protect public safety. <br /> I42 <br /> 43 The Contractor shall retain the property for 70-days. <br /> 44 <br /> I 45 If the name and contact information of the owner of a personal property item is <br /> 46 identified on that item, then for a period of not less than 10-days after removing <br /> 47 the property from the Work area, the Contractor shall attempt to notify the <br /> I 48 apparent owner of the property and make arrangements for the owner to claim <br /> 49 the property. <br /> 50 <br /> I 51 The Contractor shall release the property to any individual who claims ownership <br /> 52 provided they are able to establish ownership by identifying the property and its <br /> I <br /> MAPLE HEIGHTS BRIDGE SEISMIC RETROFIT PAGE 23 OF 106 SPECIAL PROVISIONS—Addendum 1 <br /> WORK ORDER#3693 MAY 4,2020 FEDERAL AID#BHM-2776(008) <br />
