May 242000 <br />• <br /> RESOLUTION—SNOHOMISH RIVER PEDESTRIAN/BICYCLE BRIDGE <br /> Moved ty Coundlmember Warnock, seconded by Councihnember <br /> Anderson to adopt Resolution No.4910 authorising application for an <br /> Aquatic Lands Er hamaoent Account Grant to the Department of Natural <br /> Resources for the Snohomish River pedestrian/bicycle bridge to Longus <br /> Divedronl Park and salmon habitat restoration adjacent to Union Slough. <br /> Couociimember Gipson questioned whether pad of Me City's 50%match for <br /> this grant could be used for an access to the west side of the waterfront. <br /> Dave Davis,Public Works,sated that both projects are being worked on <br /> simultaneously but he wasn't sure that those particular funds could be used for <br /> the pedestrian crossing over Woo Marine View Drive. <br /> Courcilmember Warnock remarked that there hes been a great deal of public <br /> support for this project. <br /> Michele Hoverter,5502 S.2a,encouraged the City Council to approve this <br /> MON.. <br /> Rmoludon No.4910 is as foams: <br /> WHEREAS,under the provisions of Chapter 79.24.580,RCW.Sate tunding <br /> assistance has been authorized and made available to aid in financing the cost of <br /> land and the oomtrucfon of facilities for public access S.and enhancement of, <br /> state-owned aquatic tends;and <br /> WHEREAS,the City Council of Everett considers it in the best public interest <br /> to construct a bicycle and pedestrian bridge from East Marine View Drive <br /> nee the Snohomish River to Longue Riverfrom Park on Smith Island,and to <br /> provide valuable habitat restoration and enhancement on Smith Island;and <br /> WHEREAS,0e pedestrian bridge across the Snohomish River in the vicinity of <br /> Interstate 5 is included in the Non-Motorized Tnaaepodation Facilities sub- <br /> element of the Transportation Element of the Everett Growth Management <br />
