November 8,2000 <br /> RESOLUTION-HOTEL/MOTEL TAX FUNDS <br /> Moved by Councilmember Anderson,seconded by Councilmember Pope to <br /> adopt Resolution No.0972 providing for the allocation and distribution of <br /> Hotel/Motel Tax Ponds in the amount of$100,000.00 for the year 2001. <br /> Councilmember Warnock requested clarification regarding the purpose of the <br /> funds being allocated.Don Hale,Administration,stated that they will be used <br /> to continue the necessary work on the feasibility of an arena and a variety of <br /> work to be done if the City Council authorbes staff to go forwud with the arena <br /> projeu. <br /> Coaacilmmber Warnock questioned what will happen to the funds if the arena <br /> project doesn't go forward.Don Hale responded that the remaining dollars will <br /> go back to the Lodging Tea Advisory Committee for redistribution. <br /> Councilmember Gipson expressed concern regarding the allocation of$100,000 <br /> to an arena project before it hes been approved by the Ciry Council. <br /> Couocimember Pope stated that the 9100,000 is seed money and that <br /> Administration cannot speed the funds until it aura before the City Council for <br /> approval.He urged full support of the Council for this resolution. <br /> Resolution No.0972 is as follows: <br /> WHEREAS,the City of Evefett has imposed and collects annually a tax on <br /> Hotel and Motel accommadatiom:and <br /> WHEREAS,the Revised Code of the State of Washington provides guidance <br /> and direction as to the use of these fads to promote tourism through community <br /> attractions and entertainment evens;and <br /> WHEREAS,the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee reviewed proposed uses of <br /> buds and accepted the proposed uses of the Hotel/Motel tax receipts set forth <br /> below;and <br />
