December 26,2001 Councilmember Ovemtraet asked what the diff nce/impa t a 2.25 charge for Routes 4 and 5 would mean? Ken slated that the downtown area has been evaluated as a possible f free area;however,financially it wenld c et appmximalely$24,000 per year to go fare free as opposed to a$25 charge.Also the City participates in a regional Puget Pass Program.When a number of free rides as included an addilionai$15,000-$25,000 per year would be added.In esseme there is a cost of between$40,000 and$50,000 per year.This is the reason for not going to that free at this time.
