• October 6,2004 MONTE CRISTO AWARDS Deborah WdgM,Neighborhoods and Community Services,announced that the t0"Annual Monte Cristo Awards will be held on October 14, 2004.6:30 p.m.,at the Everett Performing Ads Theatre,2710 Wetmore, and Invited everyone to attend. COUNCII Council Member Gipson repoded on his attendance at the Everett Sausage Feat He requested that the sewer replacement project be put on the budget and finance committee agenda. He expressed concem that the Public Facilities District has not submitted their annual budget to the City of Everett. Council Member Overstreet.liaison to the Public Facilities District,stated that they are now in the process of preparing their first annual budget which will include their first 15 months of operation. Council Members Nielsen end Hattce congratulated Everett Police Officer Maryjane Hacker who was presented a medal of valor from the City of Glendale,California,this moming. Council Member Stonecipher stated that both she and City staff have been contacted by a citizen concerning the direction which City Council gave staff at the July 2t,2004 Council meeting regarding the Planning Commission's consideration of a proposed adult retail ordinance. She remarked that at that time she made a motion which was not voted en. Her intent in making the motion concerning the term"prespectwa"was to suggest that any adult regulations apply only to new adult retell stores and not to adult retail businesses that were existing at the time of the moratorium. She stated that the council members also expressed their belief and hope that they not create a possible concentration of adult retail businesses in our City.They recognize that the Planning Commission Is an Independent commission which is tree to consider various alternatives as it looks at the adoption of new regulations and is free to make whatever recommendations to the City Council that it deems appropriate. 313
