June 3.2009 <br /> COUNCIL <br /> COUNCIL BILL NO.0905-11 <br /> Council Member Nielsen brought forth the following action regarding <br /> Council Bill No.0905-11 regarding inspections of residential rental <br /> properties due to input by many landlords and concems regarding <br /> whether the procedure is the best one to carefully craft an ordinance that <br /> narrowly targets the problem. He also indicated that a letter has been <br /> receNed by the Rental Housing Association of Puget Sound which <br /> includes some excellent recommendations. <br /> Moved by Council Member Nielsen,seconded by Council Member <br /> Olson that the council's consideration of Council Bill No.0905-11, <br /> the proposed rental Inspection ordinance,be postponed for not more <br /> than 90 days and that prior to the meeting at which the proposed <br /> ordinance Is considered council will hold at least one study session <br /> with public input to consider the proposed ordinance. <br /> Council Member Gipson questioned if this proposed ordnance is <br /> duplicating the process and whether our code compliance rules are not <br /> sufficient enough to regulate rental housing. <br /> Council Member Stonecipher voiced that itis appropriate to take 90 days <br /> to review this proposal and Include others'input given the level of calls <br /> and e-mails that have been received regarding this Issue. <br /> Roll was called with all council members vo0ng yes. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> CITY ATTORNEY <br /> City Attorney Jim Iles requested an executive session at the close of the <br /> meeting regarding the potential sale of real property to last approximately <br /> fifteen minutes with no announcement following the session. <br /> 144 <br />
