Engagement Strategy 4: Pop-up Outdoor Events or Walkshops
Overview: Like meeting-in-a-box listening sessions, these events would be facilitated by Relay Members,
who would encourage participation by members of their networks.
Approach: While listening sessions take place online, these efforts are on-the-ground, allowing more
robust engagement and direct consideration of the physical environment during the Vision Stage. This is
possible even during the pandemic, as individuals can maintain social distancing, or conduct the tour
independently with the aid of a map and worksheet. BERK will often model a session for Relay Members
to gain confidence before they begin to facilitate their own. These activities are well-suited to engaging
both adults and children. Adults enjoy using their phone cameras to describe what they like and what
they would like to see, while coloring sheets serve the comparable function for younger participants.
Materials:
■ Talking points.
■ Walking routes.
■ Activity sheets for adults and coloring sheets for children.
Roles:
■ City: review draft materials.
■ BERK Team: develop draft and final materials described above; gather and summarize input.
:111 DRAFT November 2020 Everett PROS Plan Update Preliminary Outreach and Engagement Plan 15
