RFP #2020-073 • CITY OF EVERETT PARKS, RECREATION & OPEN SPACE PLAN
Engagement: Vision Stage
The focus of this phase of engagement is to envision the future of the park, trails, and
recreation system in Everett. Conversations should be broad and aspirational, designed to
spark ideas. They will be supported by early inventory and conditions and trends information
by the team. This stage features a series of touch points with the community, including:
■ Awareness raising. We often accomplish awareness raising objectives through a mix of
printed and branded media, social campaigns, and digital meetings. Our Engagement
Plan will include developing key messages that flow from engagement goals and
creating materials with a common look and feel to brand the project. We will create
templates for presentations, fliers, and postcards for use by the BERK team and our
partners in the Relay Model.
le Project website or StoryMap.A website or GIS-enabled StoryMap can be used to
provide baseline information on needs, trends, and gaps; post updates; and capture
ongoing input. We will provide narrative and imaginative visuals, as well as explanations
of the data presented. The web-based platform is also a great place to highlight
interaction from students, volunteers, and community leaders as it can support comments
and "pins".
i Connections with the Board of Park Commissioners, neighborhoods, cultural groups,
and local organizations. We will provide opportunities to engage stakeholders in
conversations through forums or informal dialogues. These could involve recreation
interest groups, business groups, neighborhood groups,or others. These are connections
the City can continue to maintain in the ongoing stages of this project or related future
work. This is also a chance to engage local youth and volunteers, who have been eager
to contribute during the COVID-19 outbreak. The BERK team will provide collaborators
with materials and model activities ("meeting in a box") so they can conduct activities
with their networks in the community.
aid h v
3, v §' t
', t
g
 F
Socially-distant outdoor engagement activities for the Carnation PROS Plan Update
-1I PROPOSAL • SUBMITTED OCTOBER 27, 2020 16
