0 •
Drew Martin
From: Drew Martin
Sent: Monday, May 20, 2019 2:18 PM
To: 'jonathan Martin'; Mark Mcllvain
Subject: RE: City of Everett Permit Services: 8417 Evergreen Way(B1805-010) - Third Review
Thank you for the updated information. Most comments are addressed. I still have a minor amount of commentary that
needs to be addressed or confirmed. The potential redlines are more than I was expecting, so pending the updates for
the foundations details to fix the insulation issues, it will probably be best to provide new sheets instead of us trying to
transfer all updates.
Please see the following remaining comments and let me know if you have questions. All other structural comments
have been addressed.Architectural Comment#10 must still be addressed with the architect, and both the architectural
and structural foundation details updated.
4.The "less-than-equal-to" sign looks approximated and may be interpreted incorrectly. The shortcut for this symbol is:
Hold "ALT"-key and type 8804.The symbol should appear when you release the ALT key. Example: <_.
13.The reference to "A307 Headed AB" in the holdown schedule of Detail 1/S1.3 should be deleted. Also, the reference
to Simpson SSTBs should be revised to PABs.
27. Note that this comment is for your information only, unless you determine that additional action is required to
validate the design. The response states that the anchors have been revised to Simpson PAB. Note that an ESR does not
exist for this proprietary hardware.Simpson Catalog page 61, Footnote 2, states that the anchors comply with ACI 318-
14 Section 17.2.3.4, but does not clarify this compliance. I have typically understood this to mean the anchors have been
designed per Section 17.2.3.4.3(a), but have not seen information confirming this.We are not requesting additional
information. However, it is the EOR's responsibility to verify that the anchor satisfies the criteria of Section 17.2.3.4.3,
whether by Option (a) or another option specified in this section.
35. See the following comments:
a.The vertical loads should be identified as nominal, factored, or allowable for clarity.
b.The vertical loads are shown for a 1,218 lb unit. The heaviest unit on the plan is 1,504 lbs. Clarify if this is the
maximum load caused by all units.
c.The note should clarify that the load should be provided simultaneously at all unit corners loading the same truss.
36.A detail for the unit anchorage should be provided.
Provided these changes and updates are addressed, I have no further comments. Please let me know if you have
questions.
Drew Martin, P.E.,S.E.
inAssociate Engineer—Commercial Plans Examiner I Permit Services
425.257.8813 13200 Cedar Street, 2nd Floor, Everett,WA 98201
EVERETT Hours: Monday—Friday 7:30am-12:OOpm and 1:00pm-4:OOpm
everettwa.gov I Facebook I Twitter
Note:Emails and attachments sent to and from the City of Everett are public records and may be subject to disclosure pursuant to the Public
Records Act.
