City of Everett 00 7300 - 5 <br /> 2021 Biosolids and Backwash Solids Removal UT 3752-1 / 20 <br /> 2. Contractor shall monitor and minimize any turbidity plume including a visible <br /> solids plume or a milky white plume caused by excess polymers. Any costs <br /> of controlling, adjusting, or remediating effects of dewatering centrate <br /> streams shall be incidental to the costs of dredging and dewatering. <br /> B. Backwash Solids Dredging <br /> 1. Equipment <br /> a. The Contractor will provide the dredge and all necessary equipment <br /> to dredge the backwash solids from the WFP Backwash Pond. <br /> b. The Contractor will also provide all fuel and other equipment and <br /> appurtenances necessary to perform and support the dredging <br /> operations. Contractor is responsible to maintain and repair any <br /> damage incurred to the dredge during dredging operations. <br /> 2. Spills <br /> a. Any spillage of polymer, fuel or any debris or materials associated with <br /> the Contractor's activities or operations must be reported to the City's <br /> Project Manager as soon as possible. <br /> b. The Contractor shall clean up any spills immediately per the <br /> Contractor's approved Spill Prevention Plan or in a manner approved <br /> of by the City's Project Manager. Spill response and cleanup shall be <br /> at the Contractor's expense. <br /> 3. Dredge Operations <br /> a. Contractor shall determine and implement the best operational <br /> procedure for the successful removal of the defined quantity of <br /> backwash solids within the allotted amount of time. <br /> b. Contractor shall take measures to protect the bottom of the pond from <br /> damage caused by dredging into the pond bottom clay layer. <br /> c. Contractor's plan for removal shall be submitted and approved prior to <br /> the start of the work. <br /> C. Backwash Solids Dewatering <br /> 1. Equipment <br /> a. The Contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, and appurtenances <br /> necessary to perform and support the dewatering, hauling, and <br /> stockpiling of the backwash solids. <br /> b. The City is not responsible for the performance efficiency of any item <br /> of the Contractor's equipment or equipment system used in this <br /> Contract. <br /> 2. Operations <br /> a. The Contractor shall understand that it is imperative that each load of <br /> material must contain at a minimum of 18% TS. Materials with a solids <br /> 00 7300 - 5 SPECIAL CONDITIONS <br />
