*. <br /> Fire wall between VB school and VB church is 2HR as required by IBC table <br /> 706.4 exception (a). <br /> 2) The FW is required to provide a complete separation between the two <br /> portions of the building. The northern portion of the wall terminates at the <br /> exterior wall. However, the roof overhang of the existing school building (at <br /> main entry doors) continues past the proposed end of the FW. The FW <br /> should therefore continue westward to at least the 90 degree juncture <br /> between the lower roof and new exterior wall. Section 706.1 . <br /> a) The FW should continue in the western direction a minimum of 4 <br /> feet past the 90 degree juncture to avoid the issues created by <br /> compliance with Sections 706.5.1 & 706.5.2. Specifically, an <br /> additional wall would be required that would partially block the <br /> entry doors to the school, or the roof overhang causing the issue <br /> would have to be removed. <br /> Sheet G1.1 — Add note "EAVE OF EXISTING SCHOOL BUILDING" as well as <br /> a dimension of 4'-0" from the eave edge of the school showing the extent of <br /> the 2HR fire wall. <br /> Sheet A8.0 — Add wall type D6 2HR BRICK VENEER. <br /> Sheet A1 .1 — Add dimension "4'-0" EXTENT OF 2HR FIRE WALL" <br /> - Add wall type D6 callout. <br /> 3) The upper roof of the new building continues past the fire wall with an <br /> overhang on the other side as shown in wall section 2/A5.4. the following <br /> options apply per section 706.6: <br /> a) The FW should continue to a minimum of 30" above the roof on <br /> both sides, or <br /> b) The wood decking should be shown as fire-retardant treated for <br /> a distance of 4 feet on either side of the wall (plus Class B <br /> roofing and no openings within 4' of the FW), or <br /> c) The roof/ceiling assembly should be protected for one-hour f ire- <br /> resistance for 4 feet on either side of the wall (plus Class B <br /> roofing and no openings within 4' of the FW), or <br /> d) Remove the part of the roof that overhangs the school building <br /> and comply with Section 706.6.1 instead of Section 706.6. <br /> Sheet A8.1 — Add detail 8 "1 HR FIRE RATED EAVE" <br /> - Add detail 9 "1 HR FIRE RATED RAKE DETAIL" <br /> Sheet A3.0 — Add detail callouts for 8 & 9 on sheet A8.1 . <br /> - Add dimension denoting extent of 1 HR protected eave. <br /> 4) The wheel chair lift appears to receive access through the FW, if so, a 90- <br /> minute door should be provided. <br />
