See IBC Section 107.2.1. <br /> ANSWER: The roof hatch and 2 interior roof/adders are existing. The graphic <br /> for the access hatch has been ha/ftoned in order to read as existing. The <br /> current access to the hatch is via 2 ships ladders from the lower level directly <br /> below the hatch. The lower ladder extends from the lower level to a framed <br /> platform at the main level. This ladder and the existing platform will be <br /> removed and the floor opening between the lower and main levels will be <br /> dosed with new floor construction shown on S21.01 main level framing plan. <br /> The upper ladder extends from the existing main level platform to the roof <br /> access hatch. It will be removed during construction and reinstalled at its <br /> current location once the new floor has been completed. A note has been <br /> added to verify the exact location of the roof hatch onsite and coordinate <br /> with existing structural conditions when re-installing the ships ladder. The <br /> architectural background been updated to locate the hatch and access ladder <br /> based on the locations of existing beams shown on S21.02. <br /> 4. The Main Level plan on Sheet A21.01 states to reinstall an existing access ladder. The <br /> following comments should be addressed: <br /> a. The removal of the ladder is not shown on the Main Level demolition plan on Sheet <br /> A20.01. The ladder is specified to be reinstallation in a location where floor does not <br /> currently exist. The proposed work should be verified and revised as needed. See <br /> IBC Section 107.2.1. <br /> b. The proposed work involves removing and reattaching an existing ladder. The <br /> ladder is required to comply with current code requirements. Documentation <br /> substantiating that the ladder complies with IBC Section 1011.15 or IBC Section <br /> 1011.16 Item 6 and IMC 306.5. Alternatively, a new ladder should be provided. See <br /> IEBC Section 801.3. <br /> c. Details should be provided in the construction drawings to attach the ladder to the <br /> structure. <br /> ANSWER: See the response to item 3 above. <br /> a The removal of the 2 existing ships ladders and the framed platform at the <br /> main level have been added to the Main and Lower Level Demolition Plans. <br /> The opening between the Main and Lower Level will be infilled as part of <br /> this project as documented on sheet S20.01. <br /> b. The upper ships ladder that was removed will be reinstalled in its current <br /> location following the construction of the floor infili. <br /> c. The ladder will be reconnected to the structure based on existing <br /> connection details. <br /> 5. The Roof Framing Plan on Sheet S21.02 appears to show demolition of the roof to <br /> construct a new mechanical chase opening. See also Section 4/S40.01.
