Details 1/A02.01 and 2/A02.01 indicate that wall penetrations will occur through the fire-
rated walls. Details should be provided in the architectural drawings providing tested
and listed firestop assemblies that are compatible with the wall construction. The details
should specify the construction of the firestop assembly as indicated in the listing. See
IBC Sections 107.2.1 and 714.3.
ANSWER: Details 1/A02.01 and 2/A02.01 have been corrected to include 11L
rated penetration firestop assemblies that are compatible with the wall
construction.
11. Enlarged Elevator Plan 2/A40.01 shows the elevator shaft at the Main Level. The Main
Level Framing Plan on Sheet S21.01 specifies HSS columns that interrupt the fire
barriers around the shaft. The columns should be shown in Plan 2/A40.01. The
designer-of-record should verify that the required fire protection is not reduced by the
columns interrupting the barriers. See IBC Sections 3002.1, 713.2, 713.4, and 721.1.
ANSWER: The vertical circulation sheet A40.01 has been corrected to frame
the shaft walls around the hoist beam columns. By doing so the HSS columns
no longer interrupt the tire barriers around the shaft, See the revised sheet
A40.01.
Egress:
12. The Main Level Plan on Sheet A21.01 includes a new elevator. The elevator should
specify providing a two-way communication system at each landing. See IBC Section
1009.8.
ANSWER: The elevator specification has been corrected to include a
two-way communication system at each landing per IBC Section
1009.8, Section 0142400 'Hydraulic Elevators Otis"has been included
with this response.
Accessibility:
13. The Main Level Plan on Sheet A21.01 and the elevations on Sheet A31.01 include new
exterior Door 162. The door is required to be accessible. However, it is provided with
less than a 48-inch clearance to the stair edge. The Door Schedule specifies Hardware
Group HW-6; the group is not defined in the drawings, but anticipated to include a door
closer. The minimum door clearance should be 54 inches. Note that the door is
required to be accessible regardless of whether it is located on an accessible route. See
IBC Sections 1101.2 and 1103.1, and ICC A117.1-09 Figure 404.2.3.2(f).
ANSWER: The north wall of the glass endosure has been shifted south
in order to provide the required clearance to the stair edge. The
Hardware group HW-6 includes panic hardware for egress at this door.
Section 087100 "Door Hardware"has been included with this response.
