The <br /> following comments should be addressed: <br /> a. The existing wall is presumed to include a footing on each side, as appears to be <br /> shown in the plan. Section 12 does not show the footing. The intent of the design <br /> appears to include demolition of the footing. The design intent shall be clarified and <br /> the section revised as needed. See IBC Section 107.2.1. <br /> b. Section 9/A40.01 indicates the new wall will abut the underside of an existing <br /> concrete beam at the Main Level. It is presumed that the vertical reinforcement will <br /> dowel into the beam similar to Detail 8/S40.01. However, the wall reinforcement is <br /> not centered in the wall and is anticipated to conflict with the beam reinforcement. <br /> A detail specifying the construction at this location should be included. <br /> ANSWER; <br /> a. Please see revised details 12/S40.02 and 11/S50.02 for clarification of <br /> intent. <br /> b. Please see revised detail 12/540.02 for the changes in placement of <br /> reinforcing. Also please note the supplemental structural calculations <br /> for the change in location of reinforcing, <br /> Gravity System: <br /> 6. The Main Level Framing Plan on Sheet S21.01, and Sections 2/S40.01 and 3/S40.01, <br /> specify framing to support the new concrete deck at the mechanical opening. The <br /> following comments should be addressed: <br /> a. The structural calculations do not appear to include a design for the north and south <br /> L4 spanning between concrete slab and exterior wall. Calculations substantiating the <br /> design should be submitted for review. Note that the concrete-topped metal deck is <br /> anticipated to have similar or greater flexural stiffness to the L4 and may act as the <br /> primary load path. Use of a more substantial flexural member is recommended. <br /> See IBC Sections 1604.1 and 1604.4. <br /> b. The connections between the north and south L4 and the supports do not appear to <br /> be included in the structural details. Note that the supporting angle in Detail <br /> 7/S40.01 upturned and will not facilitate the connections shown in Detail 3/S40.01. <br /> Additional details should be provided. <br /> ANSWER: <br /> a. Please see the supplemental structural calculations for the north and <br /> south angles. Also,please note the revised size on the plan. <br /> b. Please see additional details 2/540.02 and 3/540.02 for clarification on <br /> the connections. <br /> 7. The Roof Framing Plan on Sheet S21.02 shows supplemental framing for new openings <br /> in the existing roof. Previous work performed per Permit No. B1402-011 includes <br /> additional framing in the work area that is not included in the plan. The plan also <br /> includes existing framing that is not shown in the previous permitted drawings. The <br /> existing framing in the work area should be verified and the plan revised as needed. <br /> See IBC Sections 107.2.1 and 1603.1. r <br />
