CITY OF EVERETT SPECIAL PROVISIONS <br /> 8-31.3(5) Insertion and Receiving Pits <br /> The access pit locations and sizes for the sliplining work are shown on the Plans. Contractor to 111 <br /> clean and remove debris around Insertion location that may interfere with sliplining. Receiving <br /> pit is the new access manhole. Contractor to coordinate with Engineer to schedule work. All city <br /> of Everett valves shall be operated by Public Works Department Personnel only. Access to <br /> Overflow Control Structure to be accessible at all times. <br /> 8-31.3(6) Sliplining Installation ' <br /> 8-31.3(6)A General: <br /> a. Install liner pipe in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations. <br /> b. Handle pipe with textile slings. Chains or cable are not allowed. <br /> c. Assemble and join sections of pipe together above ground prior to insertion of pipe. <br /> d. If liner is to be dragged when inserted, furnish sleds, rollers or other similar devices to <br /> protect pipe wall from damage as a result of cuts, gouges, or scrapes. <br /> e. If sections of inserted pipe are damaged, repair or replace with undamaged pipe. <br /> Damaged pipe is defined as pipe with kinks or gouges exceeding 10 percent of pipe wall <br /> thickness. <br /> 8-31.3(6)B Insertion Method: <br /> Push or pull method or combination thereof, in accordance with liner manufacturer's <br /> recommendations. <br /> a. Insert liner into existing host pipe by using a pulling head with power winch and steel cable <br /> connected to end of liner.A second pulling head may be attached to other end of liner for <br /> attachment of a tag line to pull liner back out of host pipe, if necessary. <br /> b. Length of liner pipe to be inserted in one continuous segment. Winch drum capacity and <br /> winching power shall be sized accordingly and with consideration of size and condition of <br /> host pipe. <br /> c. Scoring Protection: As liner is inserted provide protection to prevent scoring of liner by <br /> existing pipe. <br /> d. Once insertion is initiated, continue pull to completion without interruption. <br /> 8-31.3(6)C Butt-fused or Electro-fused Joints: <br /> a. Do not pull until set time recommended by manufacturer has elapsed. <br /> b. Do not exceed forces recommended by manufacturer while pushing, pulling, or joining <br /> pipe. <br /> 8-31.3(6)D Slipliner Stretching: ' <br /> Do not stretch fused pipe beyond its elastic limit. <br /> 8-31.3(6)E Slipliner Length and Pulling Speed: <br /> a. In accordance with liner manufacturer's recommendations. <br /> b. Monitor and record pushing or pulling forces during installation. <br /> 8-31.3(6)F Stress and Strain Relief: <br /> a. Allow liner to return to its original length and shape in unstressed state prior to trimming <br /> excess liner in manholes, making connections to existing pipe, or sealing annular space. <br /> b.
