The following are the outstanding items I responded to informally in our
recent email correspondence:
Architectural
Accessibility:
3. The project involves Level 2 Alterations to the building per IEBC Chapter 8. Accessibility
improvements per IEBC Section 705.2 should be included in the project. Potentially inaccessible
elements include, but are not limited to, the second floor bathrooms, stairs, ramps including handrails,
entryway doors, drinking fountains, and parking including striping and signage. Where the building is
made to be less than fully -accessible per one of the exceptions, documentation substantiating the
limited accessibility improvements should be submitted for review. Where Exception 1 is used, the
documentation should itemize the improvements and estimated cost of work associated with each
item. See IEBC Section 806.1.
The following are accessibility improvements part of this project scope of work as discussed on our
building walk-thru with Tony Lee and Ruben Sanchez on 7-24-19:
1 ) Adding Toilet Room #112
2) Remodeling existing Toilet Room #111
3) Replacing non -compliant knob door hardware on existing doors
4) Demolition of existing security door and wall enclosure located on the stair landing
5) Adding new handrails at the stairway
6) Demolition of an existing doorway that is not accessible
7) First Floor area is to receive self -leveling concrete underlayment to level uneven floor area — See
Demo Plan Sheet AD1. 1 for area.
