CITY OF EVERETT SPECIAL PROVISIONS ' <br /> The Work shall consist of one or more courses of asphalt treated base placed on the <br /> Subgrade in accordance with these Specifications and in conformity with the lines, grades, <br /> thicknesses, and typical cross-sections shown in the Plans or as staked. <br /> Do NOT construct the asphalt treated base course until all underground utilities are <br /> completed and inspected and approved by the Engineer. 111 <br /> Asphalt treated base may be placed for providing temporary access to adjoining properties <br /> where directed by the Engineer. <br /> 4-06.2 Materials <br /> Materials shall meet the requirements of the following sections: <br /> Asphalt 9-02.1 <br /> Anti-Stripping Additive 9-02.4 <br /> Aggregates 9-03.8 <br /> The grade of paving asphalt shall be as required in the Contract. <br /> 4-06.3 Construction Requirements <br /> 4-06.3(1) Asphalt Mixing Plant <br /> Asphalt mixing plants for asphalt treated base shall meet the following requirements: <br /> Heating 1 <br /> The plant shall be capable of heating the aggregates to the required temperature. <br /> Proportioning <br /> The mixing plant shall be capable of proportioning: the aggregates to meet the <br /> Specifications; and the asphalt at the rate specified by the Engineer. If the aggregates <br /> are supplied in two or more sizes, means shall be provided for proportioning or blending <br /> the different sizes of aggregates to produce material meeting the Specification <br /> requirements. <br /> Recycled asphalt pavement(RAP) may be used in the production of ATB. If utilized, the <br /> amount of RAP shall not exceed 30 percent of the total weight of the ATB. The final I <br /> gradation and asphalt binder content will conform to the approved Job Mix Formula <br /> (JMF). ATB will be evaluated under Commercial Evaluation as shown in section 9- <br /> 03.8(7). Va limts under 9-03.8(7) are excluded from ATB evaluation criteria. <br /> Mixing <br /> The mixer shall be capable of producing a uniform mixture of uniformly coated <br /> aggregates meeting the requirements of these Specifications. <br /> 4-06.3(2) Preparation of Aggregates <br /> Aggregates for asphalt treated base shall be stockpiled before use in accordance with <br /> the requirements of Section 3-02. ' <br /> The aggregates shall be heated as required by the Engineer. <br /> 4-06.3(2)A Mix Design <br /> The mix design requirements for asphalt treated base shall be as described in <br /> Section 5-04.3(7)A. <br /> 4-06.3(3) Vacant 111 <br /> 4-06.3(4) Mixing <br /> The asphalt treated base shall be mixed in accordance with the requirements of Section <br /> 5-04.3(8). 1 <br /> Water Main Replacement"V" Division 4-BASES April,2021 <br /> WO No-UP3730 SP-142 <br /> 1 <br />
