GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING • ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING CONSTRUCTION TESTING & INSPECTION May 7,2020 KA Project No. 092-20006 DRAFT GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING INVESTIGATION WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT"V" UP NO.3730 EVERETT,WASHINGTON INTRODUCTION This report presents the results of our geotechnical engineering investigation for the proposed Water Main Replacement "V" in Everett, WA. The proposed construction will be located in the following three areas: • Olympic Boulevard and Ridgemont Drive, from West Mukilteo Boulevard to 4428 Ridgemont Drive; • Pine Street from Hewitt Avenue to 25th Street; • Wetmore Avenue from 10th Street to 7th Street. The three proposed construction areas are shown on the Vicinity Map in Figure 1. Discussions regarding site conditions are presented in this report, together with conclusions and geotechnical engineering recommendations pertaining to site preparation, excavations, temporary shoring, pipe bedding,utility trench backfill, and erosion control. Schematic site plans showing the approximate exploratory boring locations can be found in Figures 2 through 4 following the text of this report. Appendix A includes USCS soil classification information,a description of the field investigation, and the exploratory soil boring logs. Appendix B contains a guide to aid in the development of earthwork specifications. The specific recommendations in the main body of the report have precedence over the general recommendations in the appendices. Purpose and Scope This investigation was conducted to evaluate the existing pavement thickness and the subsurface soil and groundwater conditions in the right-of-way and to develop geotechnical engineering recommendations for use in the design of this project and to identify potential issues that might be encountered during construction.
