a <br /> KRAZAN&ASSOCIATES,INC. <br /> KA Project No. 092-20006 <br /> DRAFT Geotechnical Engineering Investigation <br /> Everett Water Main"V" <br /> May 7,2020 <br /> Page No.2 <br /> Our e s rvices were performed in general accordance with the professional services agreement for City of <br /> Everett project UP No. 3730, dated April 2, 2020, an update to Krazan proposal number G20165WAL. <br /> The geotechnical services performed for this project generally include the following: <br /> • A geotechnical engineering investigation, including thirteen(13) soil borings to evaluate the <br /> existing pavement section as well as the subsurface soil and groundwater conditions at the <br /> site; <br /> • A site plan showing the geotechnical soil boring locations, and comprehensive soil boring <br /> logs including soil stratification and classification, and groundwater levels where <br /> applicable; <br /> • A geologic description of the area based on a review of published geologic maps and our <br /> geotechnical experience in the area; <br /> • A site description based on aerial imagery and Krazan site visits; <br /> • Recommendations for earthwork and site preparation including the suitability of on-site <br /> soils for trench backfill, placement and compaction of on-site soils, the mitigation of <br /> unsuitable soil conditions, and an evaluation of soil moisture sensitivity; <br /> • Recommendations for conventional trenching techniques including trench shoring, <br /> excavation,pipe support,and construction dewatering considerations; <br /> • Recommendations for seismic design considerations including site coefficient and ground <br /> acceleration information; <br /> • Information regarding soil corrosiveness; <br /> • Recommendations for erosion control during construction. 111 <br /> PROJECT INFORMATION <br /> Project Location and Description <br /> The City plans to install new ductile iron water pipe and abandon in-place existing cast iron pipe in <br /> three project areas: Olympic Boulevard and Ridgemont Drive, from West Mukilteo Boulevard to 4428 <br /> Ridgemont Drive; Pine Street from Hewitt Avenue to 25th Street; and Wetmore Avenue from 10th Street <br /> to 7th Street. It is our understanding that the water main line will be located within City of Everett <br /> Right-Of-Way(ROW)and easements. <br /> It is our current understanding that the new water main will include approximately 5,300 lineal feet of <br /> 8-inch diameter ductile iron water pipe. We anticipate that the water main will be installed with 36 to <br /> 48 inches of cover using standard trench excavation techniques.
