I
KRAZAN&ASSOCIATES,INC.
KA Project No.092-20006
DRAFT Geotechnical Engineering Investigation
Everett Water Main"V" I
May 7,2020
Page No. 4
I
The following information includes brief descriptions of the subsurface conditions in soil borings B-1
through B-13.
Soil boring B-1 was located near 4327 Olympic Boulevard at the intersection of Seahurst Avenue. The
soil boring encountered about 3 inches of asphalt pavement underlain by approximately 10 inches of
concrete pavement. Below the pavement section, the soil boring encountered medium dense, brown
sand with silt and gravel to a depth of approximately 7.0 feet below the ground surface. We interpreted
this material to be recessional outwash. Underlying the sand with silt and gravel, the soil boring
encountered brown to gray, very stiff silty clay to a depth of about 9.5 feet below grade. We interpreted
the silty clay to be recessional lacustrine deposits. Below the lacustrine deposits, the soil boring
encountered medium dense, brown to gray silty sand to the depth explored of 11.5 feet below the
ground surface. We interpreted the medium dense silty sand to be recessional outwash.
Soil boring B-2 was located near 4321 Olympic Boulevard. The soil boring encountered about 3 inches
of asphalt pavement at the surface. Underlying the asphalt pavement, the soil boring encountered loose,
brown silty sand with gravel to a depth of about 7.0 feet below the ground surface. We interpreted the
loose soil to be undocumented fill. Below the fill material, the soil boring encountered medium dense,
brown sand with silt and gravel to a depth of approximately 9.5 feet below the surface. We interpreted
this material to be recessional outwash. Underlying the sand and gravel, the soil boring encountered
medium dense sand to the depth explored of about 11.5 feet below grade. We interpreted the medium
dense sand to be recessional outwash.
Soil boring B-3 was located near 4309 Olympic Boulevard. This area appears to consist of road fill
crossing a drainage ravine, with a culvert to allow drainage buried in the base of the fill. The soil boring
encountered approximately 5 inches of asphalt pavement at the surface. Below the asphalt pavement,
the soil boring encountered very loose, brown sand with silt and gravel to the depth explored of about
6.5 feet below grade. We interpreted the very loose soil to be undocumented fill.
Soil boring B-4 was located near 4200 Ridgemont Drive. The soil boring encountered about 5 inches of
asphalt pavement at the surface. Underlying the asphalt pavement, the soil boring encountered loose,
brown silty sand with trace gravel to a depth of about 7.0 feet below grade. We interpreted the loose
material to be undocumented fill. Underlying the fill material, the soil boring encountered stiff to very
stiff, gray to brown silty clay with silty fine sand to the depth explored of 11.5 feet below the ground
surface. We interpreted the silty clay to be recessional lacustrine deposits.
Soil boring B-5 was located near 4314 Ridgemont Drive. The soil boring encountered about 5 inches of I
asphalt pavement at the surface. Below the asphalt pavement, the soil boring encountered loose to
medium dense, brown silty sand to a depth of about 2.0 feet below grade. We interpreted this material
to be undocumented fill. Below the fill material, the soil boring encountered medium dense, brown
Krazan&Associates,Inc.
