I
1 Existing Traffic Loops
I 2
3 The Contractor shall notify the Area Traffic Engineer through the Engineer a
4 minimum of five (5) working days in advance of pavement removal or grinding
I 5 in areas with existing loops.
6
7 If the Engineer suspects that damage to any loop, not identified in the Plans as
I 8 being replaced, may have resulted from Contractor's operations or is not
9 operating adequately, the Engineer may order the Contractor to perform the field
10 tests specified in Section 8 20.3(14)D. The test results shall be recorded and
11 submitted to the Engineer. Loops that fail any of these tests shall be replaced.
12
13 Loops that fail the tests, as described above, and are replaced shall be installed
I 14 in accordance with current City of Everett design standards and Standard
15 Drawings, as determined by the Engineer.
16
17 If traffic signal loops that fail the tests, as described above, are not replaced and
18 operational within 5 working days, the Contractor shall install and maintain
19 interim video detection until the replacement loops are operational. The type of
20 interim video detection furnished shall be approved by the Engineer prior to
I 21 installation.
22
23 GLF 8-20.4.DOCX
I 24 8-20.4 Measurement
25
26 Section 8-20.4 is supplemented with the following:
I 27
28 (******)
I 29 "Vehicle Loop Detectors", for both loop perimeter and home run, shall be measured by
30 the linear foot of the neat sawcut line in place in the roadway.
