1 <br /> 1 locations, tapers, transitions, other modifications, and pavement seams. The <br /> 2 Contracting Agency will require up to seven calendar days from the date the I <br /> 3 data is received to conduct this review. No pavement grinding will be allowed <br /> 4 before this review is complete. The Contractor will make adjustments to the curb <br /> 5 marking and stakes to match the revisions prior to grinding. <br /> 6 <br /> 7 Based on these records and/or the offset staking, the Contractor shall perform <br /> 8 all field marking and preliminary spotting for all pavement marking and <br /> 9 channelization following grinding operations, for temporary only. The <br /> 10 Contracting Agency shall perform all field marking for permanent pavement <br /> 11 marking and channelization.All calculations, surveying, and measuring required <br /> 12 for setting and maintaining the necessary lines for the temporary pavement <br /> 13 marking shall be the Contractor's responsibility. <br /> 14 <br /> 15 Preliminary spotting shall be provided at a spacing of 40 foot maximum on <br /> 16 tangents and 25 foot maximum on curves and tapers. All curves, tapers, stop <br /> 17 lines, and crosswalks shall be laid out with a rope. Field layout for curves and <br /> 18 tapers shall use an 800' minimum length rope. The color of the material used I <br /> 19 for preliminary spotting shall be white. Longitudinal marking shall be parallel <br /> 20 with the proposed line applied with a paint marker wand or other approved <br /> 21 method, a minimum of 6 inches in length and wide enough so that a minimum <br /> 22 of two marks can be clearly seen at night under ordinary headlight conditions. <br /> 23 Refreshing of marks prior to striping shall be the responsibility of the Contractor. <br /> 24 <br /> 25 Personnel performing the field layout and preliminary spotting shall be proficient <br /> 26 in the practice of striping layout, including layout and preliminary spotting of <br /> 27 curves and tapers using a rope and paint wand, proper annotation on the <br /> 28 pavement of starts, stops, and changes in line type for pavement markings, and <br /> 29 an understanding of WSDOT Standard Plans and City Standard Drawings for <br /> 30 pavement markings. <br /> 31 I 32 Survey personnel performing the calculations, notes, and layout data shall be <br /> 33 on site to answer questions regarding the layout notes as the roadway is being <br /> 34 spotted or shall perform the work. In the event a revision is required by the I <br /> 35 Contracting Agency during field layout, either to correct errors in the notes or to <br /> 36 make minor revision noted in the ordinary progress of the work, field layout shall <br /> 37 be performed by the Contractor at the time. <br /> 38 <br /> 39 All field layout and temporary pavement marking shall be completed during the <br /> 40 same shift as the striping is obliterated by grinding or paving unless otherwise <br /> 41 directed by the Engineer. <br /> 42 <br /> 43 Permanent pavement marking shall not begin until the layout is approved by the <br /> 44 Contracting Agency. Such approval shall not relieve the Contractor of <br /> 45 responsibility for the accuracy of the field markings. <br /> 46 <br /> 47 Payment I <br /> 48 <br /> 49 All costs associated with layout of temporary striping shall be included in the <br /> 50 associated bid items for pavement marking and shall be full pay for all labor, I <br /> 51 equipment, materials, and supervision utilized to perform the Work specified for <br /> I <br /> 2021 PAVEMENT MAINTENANCE OVERLAY PAGE 82 OF 84 DIVISION T <br /> WORK ORDER 3751 Addendum 1 APRIL 5, 2021 <br />
