• . <br /> 1 Combined Temperature and Pressure Relief Valves shall <br /> be installed in the position specified for the <br /> 2 temperature relief valve. <br /> 3 No shut-off valve shall be installed between any <br /> relief valve and the equipment it is protecting. All <br /> 4 relief valves shall have a discharge pipe connected <br /> not smaller than the valve discharge tapping and shall <br /> 5 be run to a suitable position with the end of the <br /> drop ipe terminating in a visible location. There <br /> 6 shall be no valve installed in this discharge pipe. <br /> The drain end shall be plain, without threads . <br /> 7 <br /> Valves shall be clearly marked by casting, stamping <br /> 8 or etching on the valve body or on a plate securely <br /> fastened to the valve with the following: manufacturer' s <br /> 9 name, type or model number of the device, the set <br /> opening pressure and temperature of relief valves and <br /> 10 the capacity ratings in BTU per hour. <br /> 11 All metal parts constantly in contact with the water <br /> shall have a corrosion resistance equal to 85% copper, <br /> 12 and all other metal parts which may come in contact <br /> with water during relief shall be made of non-ferrous <br /> 13 material. " <br /> 14 SECTION 22: That Chapter 10, Section 1008, of the Uniform <br /> Plumbing Code as herein adopted, shall be amended to read as <br /> 15 follows : <br /> 16 "Sec. 1008 -- Installation, Inspection, Testing <br /> 17 (a) Installation. All water piping shall be <br /> adequately supported to the satisfaction of the Admin- <br /> 18 istrative Authority. Burred ends shall be reamed to <br /> the full bore of the pipe:---changes in direction shall <br /> 19 be made by the appropriate _use of fittings,r-- All such <br /> piping, equipment, appurtenances and devices shall be <br /> 20 installed in a workmanlike manner in conformity with the <br /> provisions and intent of this code. <br /> 21 <br /> (b) Water service pipes or any underground water pipes, <br /> 22 shall not be run or laid in the same trench with non- <br /> metallic building sewer or drainage piping, except as <br /> 23 provided in this section. <br /> 24 The water service pipe may be placed in the same trench <br /> with such building drain and building sewer provided <br /> 25 both of the following conditions are met: <br /> 26 The bottom of the water service pipe at all <br /> points, shall be at least twelve (12) inches <br /> 27 above the top of the sewer line. <br /> 28 The water service pipe shall be placed on a <br /> solid shelf excavated at one side of the <br /> 29 common trench. <br /> 30 No water piping shall be installed within any concrete <br /> slab or in the ground under a concrete slab within a <br /> 31 building. EXCEPTION: When necessary due to structural <br /> conditions, water piping may be installed in chases, <br /> 32 sleeves, ducts, or surrounded in a bed of clean washed <br /> sand of three (3) inch coverage or protected by an <br /> approved pipe wrapping material. <br />
