• . 1 Combined Temperature and Pressure Relief Valves shall be installed in the position specified for the 2 temperature relief valve. 3 No shut-off valve shall be installed between any relief valve and the equipment it is protecting. All 4 relief valves shall have a discharge pipe connected not smaller than the valve discharge tapping and shall 5 be run to a suitable position with the end of the drop ipe terminating in a visible location. There 6 shall be no valve installed in this discharge pipe. The drain end shall be plain, without threads . 7 Valves shall be clearly marked by casting, stamping 8 or etching on the valve body or on a plate securely fastened to the valve with the following: manufacturer' s 9 name, type or model number of the device, the set opening pressure and temperature of relief valves and 10 the capacity ratings in BTU per hour. 11 All metal parts constantly in contact with the water shall have a corrosion resistance equal to 85% copper, 12 and all other metal parts which may come in contact with water during relief shall be made of non-ferrous 13 material. " 14 SECTION 22: That Chapter 10, Section 1008, of the Uniform Plumbing Code as herein adopted, shall be amended to read as 15 follows : 16 "Sec. 1008 -- Installation, Inspection, Testing 17 (a) Installation. All water piping shall be adequately supported to the satisfaction of the Admin- 18 istrative Authority. Burred ends shall be reamed to the full bore of the pipe:---changes in direction shall 19 be made by the appropriate _use of fittings,r-- All such piping, equipment, appurtenances and devices shall be 20 installed in a workmanlike manner in conformity with the provisions and intent of this code. 21 (b) Water service pipes or any underground water pipes, 22 shall not be run or laid in the same trench with non- metallic building sewer or drainage piping, except as 23 provided in this section. 24 The water service pipe may be placed in the same trench with such building drain and building sewer provided 25 both of the following conditions are met: 26 The bottom of the water service pipe at all points, shall be at least twelve (12) inches 27 above the top of the sewer line. 28 The water service pipe shall be placed on a solid shelf excavated at one side of the 29 common trench. 30 No water piping shall be installed within any concrete slab or in the ground under a concrete slab within a 31 building. EXCEPTION: When necessary due to structural conditions, water piping may be installed in chases, 32 sleeves, ducts, or surrounded in a bed of clean washed sand of three (3) inch coverage or protected by an approved pipe wrapping material.
