• <br /> • <br /> 1 (b) No drainage or vent piping shall be drilled <br /> and tapped for the purpose of making connections <br /> 2 thereto, and no cast iron soil pipe shall be <br /> threaded. <br /> 3 <br /> (c) No waste connection shall be made to a closet <br /> 4 bend or stub of a water closet or similar fixture . <br /> 5 (d) Except as hereinafter provided in Sections 614 <br /> and 616 and by Appendix E, no vent pipe shall be <br /> 6 used as a soil or waste pipe. <br /> 7 (e) No fitting, connection, device or method of <br /> installation which obstructs or retards the flow of <br /> 8 water, wastes, sewage or air in the drainage or <br /> venting systems in an amount greater than the normal <br /> 9 frictional resistance to flow, shall be used unless <br /> it is indicated as acceptable in this code or is <br /> 10 approved by the Administrative Authority as having <br /> a desirable and acceptable function and as of ultimate <br /> 11 benefit to the proper and continuing functioning of <br /> the plumbing system. The enlargement of a three (3) <br /> 12 inch closet bend or stub to four (4) inches shall <br /> not be considered an obstruction. <br /> 13 <br /> (f) All valves, pipes and fittings shall be <br /> 14 installed in correct relationship to the direction <br /> of flow. " <br /> 15 <br /> SECTION 13: That Chapter 4, Section 403, of the Uniform <br /> 16 Plumbing Code herein adopted is hereby amended to read as <br /> follows: <br /> 17 <br /> "Sec . 403 -- Size of Drainage Piping <br /> 18 <br /> (a) The minimum sizes of vertical and/or horizontal <br /> 19 drainage piping shall be determined from the total <br /> of all fixture units connected thereto, and additional, <br /> 20 in the case of vertical drainage pipes, in accordance <br /> with their length. <br /> 21 <br /> (b) Table 4-3 shows the maximum number of fixture <br /> 22 units allowed on any vertical or horizontal drainage <br /> pipe, building drain or building sewer of a given <br /> 23 size; the maximum number of fixture units allowed on <br /> any branch interval of a given size; the maximum <br /> 24 length (in feet) of any vertical drainage pipe of <br /> a given size. <br /> 25 <br /> (c) The minimum size of the main house drain of single <br /> 26 family dwellings with installations containing no more <br /> than two (2) water closets may be three (3) inch for above <br /> 27 ground installations . Water closets and six (6) fixtures <br /> units when connected to a three (3) stack or house <br /> 28 drain shall waste into stack or house drain at different <br /> levels . Three (3) inch crosses shall not be used. <br /> 29 <br /> SECTION 14: That Chapter 4, Section 404, of the Uniform <br /> 30 Plumbing Code herein adopted is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> 31 <br /> 32 <br />
