• . 1 "Sec . 6O8 -- Appliances 2 Appliances, devices, equipment or other apparatus not regularly classed as plumbing fixtures, but which 3 are equipped with pumps, drips or drainage outlets, may be drained by indirect waste pipes discharging 4 into an approved type open receptor. A dishwashing machine may be directly connected to a drainage system. " 5 6 SECTION 17: That Chapter 7, Section 702, of the Uniform Plumbing Code herein adopted is hereby amended to read as 7 follows : 8 "Sec . 702 -- Traps Protected by Vent Pipes 9 (a) Each plumbing fixture trap, except as otherwise provided in this code, shall be protected against 10 syphonage and back pressure, and air circulation assured throughout all parts of the drainage system, 11 by means of a vent pipe installed in accordance with the requirements of this code . 12 (b) Each fixture trap shall have a protecting vent 13 so located that the developed length of the trap arm from the trap weir to the inner edge of the vent 14 shall not be greater than twenty-four (24) inches . 15 (c ) A trap arm may change direction without the use of a cleanout when such change of direction is 16 accomplished by the use of not more than two (2) forty-five (45) degree fittings or one ( 1) ninety 17 (90) degree fitting of approved radius . 18 (a) The vent pipe opening from a soil or waste pipe, except for water closets and similar fixtures shall 19 not be below the weir of the trap. " 20 SECTION 18: That Chapter 8, Section 807, of the Uniform Plumbing Code herein adopted, is hereby amended to read as 21 follows : 22 ''Sec . 807 -- Waterproofing of Openings 23 Joints at the roof around pipes, ducts or other appurtenances shall be made watertight by the use of 24 lead or copper bootlet flashings either counterflashed or turned over top edge to insure a watertight joint. 25 In case of vent extension above flashing approved roofing mastic shall be used at top of flashing to 26 insure a watertight joint. Exterior wall openings shall be made watertight. " 27 28 SECTION 19 : That Chapter 9, Section 910, of the Uniform Plumbing Code herein adopted, is hereby amended to read as 29 follows : 30 "Sec . 910 -- Plumbing Fixtures Required 31 Every building or separate part thereof, in which people congregate, live, sleep or work must have a 32 room or rooms containing one (1) or more water closets .
