One or more persons occupying a dwelling unit <br /> and living as a single, non-profit housekeeping unit. <br /> 18. Garage, Private. An accessory building, designed or used <br /> for the shelter or storage of vehicles owned or operated <br /> by the occupants of the principal building. <br /> 19. Garage, Public. A building other than a private garage <br /> used for the care, repair or equipping of automobiles, <br /> or where such vehicles are kept for remuneration, hire <br /> or sale. <br /> 20. Gross floor area. The sum of the gross horizontal areas <br /> of the floors of a building or buildings, measured from <br /> exterior faces of exterior walls and from the center line <br /> of division or party walls. <br /> 21. Gross Floor Area Ratio. The result of dividing the gross <br /> floor area of a 'building by the total land area of the <br /> lot used by such building. <br /> 22. Height of building. The greatest vertical distance <br /> measured from the average level of the highest and lowest <br /> point of that portion of the building site covered by the <br /> building to the highest point of the roof, excepting <br /> chimneys and steeples. <br /> 23. Home Occupation. An occupation conducted on the premise <br /> by the occupant of the DWELLING as a secondary use in <br /> connection with which there is no display of products, <br /> no person employed, no sign larger than two square feet <br /> which shall be unlighted and attached flat against the <br /> front of the DWELLING, and with which no mechanical <br /> equipment is used except such mechanical equipment as <br /> is customarily used for housekeeping purposes and pro- <br /> vided further the use does not involve more than one <br /> fourth (,-,) the total floor area of the DWELLING, and <br /> also provided further that the entrance to the space <br /> devoted to such home occupation shall be only from within <br /> the DWELLING and not directly to the outside. <br /> 24. Lot. Land occupied or to be occupied by a building and <br /> its accessory buildings, together with such open spaces <br /> as are required under the provisions of this Ordinance, <br /> and having frontage upon a street or alley. <br /> 25. Lot Area. The total horizontal area within the boundary <br /> lines of a lot. <br /> 26. Lot, Corner. A lot at the junction of and fronting on <br /> two or more intersecting streets. <br /> 27. Lot, Interior. Any lot which is not a corner lot. <br /> 28. Lot width. The horizontal distance between side lot lines <br /> measured at right angles to the lot depth at a point <br /> midway between the front and rear lot lines. <br /> 29. Non-conforming building. A building or structure which <br /> does not conform in its construction, area, yard require- <br /> ments or height to the regulations of the building in <br /> which it is located or to the requirements of the Uniform. <br /> Building Code. <br /> 30. Non-conforming Use. Use of a building or land that does <br /> not conform to the regulations as to use for the zone <br /> in which it is situated. <br /> 31. Parking space. An off-street parking space, normally <br /> 10 ft. by 20 ft., having acc s o a public street or <br /> alley; as specified in Sec. .10 <br />
