water used is served through this one metered service. <br /> Where a single premises is served by two or more meters, <br /> the monthly minimum charge for water shall be the total combined <br /> established minimum for the several meters, and the rate for <br /> water consumed each month shall be based upon the total consump- <br /> tion as shown by the combined reading of the several meters, pro- <br /> vided, that this same service could be rendered by one meter of <br /> a larger capacity. <br /> The estimated cost of said installation shall be deposited <br /> with the Water Department. After an application has been signed <br /> and deposit has been accepted by the Superintendent, the work will <br /> then be performed. <br /> Section 46: Meters. <br /> All meters shall be of a standard size and design and <br /> approved by the Superintendent and each meter before it is install- <br /> ed shall be separately examined, tested and approved. <br /> A meter shall be installed on any flat rate service, where, <br /> in the opinion of the Superintendent, water is being wasted, or <br /> where more water is being consumed than is being paid for on the <br /> flat rate schedule. <br /> A meter shall be installed on all services larger than <br /> three-quarter inch (3/4" ) ; except where static pressure is less <br /> than 20 pounds, a larger unmetered service may be installed at the <br /> discretion of the Superintendent. <br /> Meter Box Covers and Service cock Covers shall be kept free <br /> from obstructions. All persons are prohibited from piling rubbish <br /> or building material thereon. <br /> Section 47: Meters - Testing. <br /> In the event of a meter getting out of order and failing to <br /> register, consumer shall be charged at the average daily consump- <br /> tion as shown by the meter when in order. Meters shall be taken <br /> out and tested free of charge to the consumer once every three <br /> years, and may be tested oftener than at said three yearly period <br /> upon the request of the consumer in writing, and shall be tested <br /> in his presence in the shops of the Liter .'epartment and a report <br /> thereon be duly made. Both parties to the test must accept the <br /> findings so made. If the test discloses an error against the <br /> consumer of more than 3 per cent in the meter' s register, the <br /> excess in the three previous readings shall be credited to the <br /> consumer' s meter account and the Water Department shall bear the <br /> entire expense of the test and the deposit required as hereinafter <br /> prescribed shall be returned. But when no such error is found <br /> the person who has requested the test shall pay the charge of <br /> making such test. Before making a test of any meter the person <br /> requesting such a test shall, at the time of filing his request <br /> with the Department, make a deposit with the City Treasurer of the <br /> amount charged for such test, subject to the conditions herein <br /> stated, which charges are filed as follows: For testing one-half <br /> inch meters to three-quarter inch meters, inclusive, One Dollar. <br /> For testing one inch meters to one and one-half inch meters, <br /> inclusive, One Dollar and Fifty Cents. For testing two inch meters <br /> to three inch meters, inclusive, Two 1'ollars. For testing meters <br /> above three inch, the actual cost of making above test is estimated <br /> by the boater Superintendent. <br /> No meter shall be removed or in any way disturbed or the <br /> seal broken except in the presence of the proper authorities. <br /> -14- <br />
