• <br /> • <br /> • <br /> Section 19: Application for Water service. <br /> Before the water is turned on to any premises, an appli- <br /> cation must be made in writing at the Water Lepartment by owner <br /> or authorized agent, and the water charge paid in advance. An <br /> inspector delegated by the Water Department will make an examin- <br /> ation of any new work, and if it is found that it has been done <br /> according to the rules and regulations of the Water Department, <br /> and in conformity with the ordinance of the City of tverett, the <br /> water will then be turned on. <br /> When an application has been made for a connection with the <br /> mains, and after the charge therefor shall have been paid, and <br /> after the applicant shall have run his pipes from service cock <br /> location to a point inside his property line, the service pipe and <br /> connections from the main to and including a service cock will <br /> be put in and will remain the excludive property of the City. <br /> Water connection will not be made except where a building or <br /> building material is on the premises. <br /> The Water Department will maintain all service pipes from <br /> the main to and including service cocks except on metered services, <br /> then maintenance shall be up to and including the water meter, <br /> except where the meter is moved a considerable distance from the <br /> main for service convenience. <br /> Service lines may be renewed by the Water Lepartment at the <br /> request of the property owner only after the line has been in <br /> service twenty years or more. Except that it may be renewed at <br /> any time that the Water Superintendent considers that conditions <br /> warrant said renewal. <br /> In any case the property owner must renew the service line <br /> from the house to the service cock before the eater Department <br /> will renew its service. <br /> No water will be furnished on premises of a consumer where <br /> the supply pipe is of black iron, or where the materials and <br /> fittings do not meet American hater Works Ass 'n. standards for <br /> underground installation. <br /> A connection to the Water Department' s main must be made <br /> on the same lot as is occupied, wholly or in part, by a building. <br /> Service pipes must not be run to dwellings on other lots, <br /> Water shall be charged for all purposes for which it is <br /> available in the building whether fixtures are in the rooms or not. <br /> Customers shall not be permitted to run service pipes <br /> across streets or alleys. <br /> Water shall not be turned on for any new service for <br /> domestic purposes unless a faucet has first been installed inside <br /> the building. <br /> No person shall place a tap in a yard or common area of <br /> any premises for any other purposes than that of sprinkling or <br /> irrigation and no tap for such purpose shall be so placed as to <br /> be accessible to persons living in or occupying neighboring <br /> premises. Water shall not be allowed to pass to taps placed in <br /> violations of this section, or if turned on to any such taps, <br /> shall be shut off until such tap is removed to some unexposed <br /> place on said premises; and no tap shall be placed in any yard or <br /> common area of any premises for any purpose unless another tap <br /> shall have been previously placed and be in use in the house <br /> situated upon such premises.
