and why they chose to #BeEPDtoo. Conversations with the Chief of Police, city council members
and members of Everett's BIPOC community with discussions of their experiences interacting with
our department and the reasons they believe more members of our underrepresented
communities should consider a career in law enforcement will also be integrated into our
program.
The printed media associated with this project will highlight both the diverse nature of our current
workforce and the opportunities to have a law enforcement career at a police department with
broad potential for community engagement, personal growth, and career advancement.
The deployment of our multi -media plan will enhance current community connections such as job
fairs, local college visits, community sponsored events, and City web services. This grant award
would allow the Everett Police Department to expand our traditional scope of recruitment and
travel outside the state of Washington, establishing an Everett Police Department presence in
national markets thus far untapped by our recruiting efforts... Examples include visiting
Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU), women's colleges, tribal communities, and
military installations.
Utilizing a digital streaming and marketing company will help us realize a larger audience both
regionally and nationally as we seek to connect with a more diverse candidate pool from
underrepresented groups and communities. Their consumer analytics will allow us to focus our
messaging directly to those communities that we hope to hire our new police officers from.
Additionally, included in the project budget is the request for grant funding to provide training
and travel costs for our police recruiting officer to attend the 9t" Annual Police Recruitment and
Retention Summit in January 2022 and the Women in Public Safety Leadership Conference
(virtual) in 2021.
