The exterior landings for doorways serving an occupant load of 50 or more shall be <br /> provided with emergency lighting. The lighting shall specify a minimum 90-minute <br /> uninterrupted supply power per IBC Section 1008.3.4. See IBC Sections 1008.3.2 Item 5 <br /> and 1010.1.6. Where existing systems occur, they shall be indicated on the plans. See <br /> IEBC Section 801.3. <br /> 8. The Site Plan on Sheet A1.00 appears to show modifications to the existing sidewalk on the <br /> north side of the building. See IBC Sections 107.2.1 and 1102.1. The following comments <br /> shall be addressed: <br /> a. The extent of the modifications is not clear and shall be clarified on the site plan. <br /> Details for the sidewalk modifications should be provided. <br /> b. The slopes and cross-slopes shall be specified in the drawings. See IBC Sections 1012.2 <br /> and 1012.3, and ICC A117.1-09 Sections 405.2 and 405.3. <br /> c. The ramps shall specify a slip-resistant surface per IBC Section 1012.7.1. <br /> d. Ramps with a rise exceeding 6 inches shall be provided with handrails per IBC Section <br /> 1012.8. <br /> e. Edge protection shall be provided where required per IBC Section 1012.10. <br /> Accessibility: <br /> 9. The project involves Level 2 Alterations to the building per IEBC Chapter 8. Accessibility <br /> improvements per IEBC Section 705.2 shall be included in the project. It appears that some <br /> accessibility improvements have been made, such as adding accessible parking spaces per <br /> Sheet A1.00. Documentation substantiating that the requirements of Section 705.2 have <br /> been satisfied shall be submitted for review. Where Exception 1 is used, the documentation <br /> shall itemize the improvements and estimated cost of work associated with each item. See <br /> IEBC Section 806.1. <br /> 10.The existing restrooms on Sheet A2.01 do not appear to be fully accessible. Potential <br /> deficiencies include, but are not limited to, the bathroom doorways. See ICC A117.1-09 <br /> Figure 404.2.3.2 (a) and (b). The restrooms shall be made accessible as required per IEBC <br /> Section 705.2. See IEBC Section 806.1. <br /> 11.The Site Plan on Sheet A1.00 shows new accessible parking spaces. Accessible parking <br /> spaces shall be provided with signage per IBC Section 1111.1 Item 1. The signs shall <br /> comply with ICC A117.1-09 Section 502.7, including additional requirements for van- <br /> accessible spaces. The van accessible spaces shall be specified on the plans. Details <br /> specifying the requirements for the signs shall be provided. Note that the requirements to <br /> provide signs are not exempt where painted accessible symbols are provided on the parking <br /> surface. See IBC Section 1101.2 and IEBC Section 705.2. <br /> 12.The Site Plan includes an existing accessible parking space on the west side of the building. <br /> The space does not include an access aisle. In addition, the ramp is located in-line with the <br /> parking space and therefore prevents access. The accessible space shall be reconfigured to <br /> provide an access aisle and route to the ramp.
