•
April 10, 2020
Page 6
Plant Survival
During the first late summer monitoring event, plant survival will be evaluated within each of the
sampling transect locations. Percent survival of shrubs and trees will be evaluated in the 10-foot belt
along the established buffer. The species and locations of shrubs and trees within this belt will be
recorded. The established vegetation sampling transects will aid in determining the success of plant
establishment. Monitoring and calculations to determine percent survival will occur only in Years 1
and 2 unless survival success standards are not met. This is deemed adequate because plants that
survive two summers are considered established.
Monitoring Schedule
Monitoring events will be conducted per the schedule presented in Table 1.
Table 1
Projected Calendar for Performance Monitoring and Maintenance Events
Report Due to
Year Date Maintenance Review Performance Monitoring Agencies
Immediately after
0(BA) X X X
construction is complete
Spring X X
1
Fall X X X
Spring X
2
Fall X X X
Spring X
3
Fall
Spring X
4
Fall
Spring X
5
Fall X X X*
Notes:
*Obtain final approval from the City of Everett (presumes that performance criteria are met).
BA:baseline
Maintenance Actions
Maintenance will be performed at least annually throughout the performance period to address
conditions that could jeopardize the success of the Project. Maintenance visits will entail a walkthrough
of the site to see if any flood events have caused significant erosion or major loss of plants, erosion, or
slope failures.Vegetation sampling will not occur during these maintenance visits. During regular
maintenance visits (per the schedule shown in Table 1), any necessary maintenance actions will be
identified and reported to USACE and the City of Everett along with a corrective action plan.
