November 23,2021 <br /> Revise Section 9-30.3 Valves to read as follows: <br /> Provide valves with hand wheels or operating nuts as designated. In general, valves buried <br /> on the distribution system shall be non-rising stem type, open counterclockwise, and be <br /> equipped with two 0 rings in the stuffing box with a two-inch operating nut. Valves within <br /> vaults shall be rising stem type, open counterclockwise, and be equipped with two 0 rings <br /> stuffing box with a hand wheel for operation. <br /> Provide an affidavit of compliance stating the valve furnished fully complies with AWWA <br /> C509 or AWWA C515. <br /> Replace Section 9-30.3(2) with the following: <br /> 9-30.3(2) Swing Check Valves (Wastewater) I <br /> Subject to compliance with the plans and Contract Documents swing check valves shall <br /> comply with AWWA C508 and shall meet the following criteria: I <br /> 1. Manufacturers: <br /> a. Clow. <br /> b. America Darling. <br /> c. GA Industries <br /> 2. Materials: <br /> a. Body and cover: Cast iron. <br /> b. Seat ring, hinge: Bronze. <br /> c. Disc: <br /> i. 3 to 4 IN: Bronze. <br /> ii. 6 to 24 IN: Cast iron with bronze face. <br /> iii. 6 to 24 IN: Cast iron with rubber face. <br /> d. Hinge shaft: Stainless steel. <br /> e. Bearings, connecting hardware: Bronze. <br /> 3. Design requirements: I <br /> a. 175 PSI working pressure (3 to 12 IN). <br /> b. 150 PSI working pressure (14 to 24 IN). <br /> 4. Furnish with outside weight and lever or lever and spring I <br /> Provide an affidavit of compliance stating the valve furnished fully complies with AWWA <br /> C509 or AWWA C515. I <br /> Add the following: <br /> 9-30.3(4) Valve Boxes I <br /> Supplement 9-30.3(4) by adding the following: <br /> All covers, casting, boxes, structures, and associated items shall be 200 KIP proof test load I <br /> rated per AASHTO M306 and shall be designed to accommodate the Taylor "Big Red" <br /> THDC-978 Container Handler loading as shown on Plan Sheet C10. The Standard Plan <br /> references and product references below are intended to provide interior geometry and I <br /> intent only.
