Later Phase Eclipse Mill Project
The CONSULTANT shall prepare a Geotechnical Work Plan Memorandum for
the proposed exploration program. The work plan will be submitted to the design
team and the CITY for review and approval. The work plan will detail the type,
location, and extent of proposed field explorations along with logistics necessary
to perform the work such as access and staging areas. The work plans will also
be used for utility locating clearances and for permitting that may be necessary to
access the exploration locations. We assume that any required permits or rights
of entry will be provided at no cost to the CONSULTANT.
300.3.3 Conduct Geotechnical Explorations
The CONSULTANT shall conduct up to two days of limited access drilling in
support of the bank stabilization design along the Lowell Riverfront Trail. All
geotechnical explorations will be conducted with a rubber track mounted limited
access drill rig. The drilling sites will be accessed by tracking along the Lowell
Riverfront Trail. Each geotechnical boring will be drilled to a depth of 20 to 30
feet or practical refusal, whichever is shallower. No geotechnical borings will be
drilled within the river.
Each of the above-described geotechnical explorations will be logged by a
licensed geologist. All drilling spoils will be drummed and transported off site for
disposal by the driller.
300.3.4 Generate Boring Logs and Assign Laboratory Testing
The CONSULTANT shall prepare summary boring and perform laboratory testing
to evaluate relevant physical properties of the site soils. Laboratory testing will
include moisture content, grain-size distribution, and Atterberg Limits.
Subtask 300.4 Geotechnical Final Design
The CONSULTANT shall conduct geotechnical final design analysis in support of
development of the 100 percent design for the proposed improvements. The
CONSULTANT shall provide the following services under this task.
300.4.1 Evaluate Field and Laboratory Data
Based on the borings and the laboratory test results on selected samples, The
CONSULTANT shall generate estimates of the soil strength and other properties
needed to evaluate the effects the subsurface conditions will have on the
proposed improvements.
300.4.2 Develop Geologic Cross-Sections
The CONSULTANT shall develop new geologic cross-sections and update
already completed cross sections, as needed, for the project. These cross
sections will show near surface soil conditions, will be provided in a geotechnical
report, and will be used to evaluate bank stabilization methods.
300.4.3 Update Seismic Design Parameters
Based on the soils encountered across the site, The CONSULTANT shall update
the seismic design parameters to meet current code requirements. The design
spectral acceleration parameters will then be selected in accordance with the IBC
code.
