We can issue that(safety issue)without having
to address the other issues with this permit.Whether the city will pursue enforcement of the other violations remains to
be seen.
Eileen, this is one of those cases where we have no complaint and would want to have the homeowners aware of their
responsibility to fix the issue. I would be satisfied with a title could so that the structure wouldn't be passed on again
and not an actively pursued case at this time.Thoughts?
Tony Lee
III Building Official I Permit Services
Li,
425.257.8812 13200 Cedar Street, 2"d Floor, Everett,WA 98201
EVERETT Hours: M/W/Th/F: 7:30am-12:O0pm & 1:00pm-3:00pm;Tu: 1:00pm-3:00pm
everettwa.gov I Facebook I Twitter
COVID-19 Update: Please reference our website& online resources for updates to our service during the
COVID-19 pandemic. The short summary is that a homeowner wants to modify their front porch by
adding a dormer and exterior landing with stairs at the primary exit. However, I found significant unpermitted
work on the house. The owner's response is they will likely abandon the dormer and just build the exterior
landing since "they don't need a permit for that",which isn't correct. The landing generally consists of a
square wood-framed platform (6'x6'?) with a single wrap-around step on three sides (total height above grade
is two steps).
In the interest of being the "kinder, gentler neighborhood building department", do I ignore this, or let her
know that she still can't proceed without a permit?
4Irl
