Port Gardner Storage Facility Scope of Work 1-06-22
Activities/Approach: Develop design documents considering results of demolition phase and
recommendations, decisions, and design criteria of previous phases. Design will be consistent with
that described in previous prepared reports, technical memorandums, and demolition drawings.
Design models and drawings will conform to the project-specific CAD standards and BXP developed
under Phase 300. Drawings prepared for the preliminary submittal is assumed to include the
following:
• Preliminary site plan (including grading, stormwater and sanitary layouts)
• Process and building facilities general arrangements
• At least one structural/general elevation view of each structure (without architectural
treatments)
• Draft process schematics
• Draft P&IDs
• Draft hydraulic profile
• Preliminary electrical diagrams
• Process equipment lists
• Proposed conduit and pipe alignments
• Pipe sizes and connections to existing pipes
Consultant will prepare a Design Memorandum that describes any changes to the design
assumptions and criteria in the BODR, description of resolved and outstanding issues, and a
discussion of any further field work or investigations that may be required to advance to
intermediate design. Consultant will provide an updated design schedule and identify delays and
action required or taken to meet the timeline for the start of construction.
Other activities in this phase include:
• Develop control narratives to supplement P&IDs.
• Update base map and existing conditions models to reflect starting conditions after
demolition phase has been executed.
• Hydraulic profile calculations for all unit process and gravity flow components.
• Equipment sizing and selection.
• Proposed list of specification sections and a draft of those equipment sections and common
work results that are most important to the project.
• Develop data sheets and lists for gates, piping, valves and instrumentation.
• Provide support, such as equipment vendor quotes,to construction cost estimating in Phase
400.
Task Assumptions
• Preliminary design package will be delivered as one complete review package without
respect to construction delivery methods or phasing. Phasing or other packaging will be
incorporated in future (intermediate or final) design phases.
• Technical specifications will be prepared in Division 50 CSI master format using BC
standards.
• General and Supplementary Conditions will use the demolition package versions.
• As a discipline dependent on architectural and structural layouts, building mechanical design
will be advanced in intermediate design phase using other disciplines preliminary designs
and design criteria developed in BODR phase.
23
