I I Bid Item 10 in Section 01 22 20 1.11.D is REPLACED with the following: 9 Bid Item 10. Removal of Unsuitable Material. Measurement will only be made for materials removed at a depth of 6 inches or greater below the invert elevation of a pipe or bottom of required pipe bedding (whichever is deeper), or 6 inches below the compacted aggregate base for structures indicated on the drawings. The quantities of authorized unsuitable material excavation paid for by the City shall be computed from in-place, field measurements and estimates made by the Engineer. The unit Contract Price per cubic yard (CY) for "Removal of Unsuitable Material" shall constitute full compensation for all costs of the Work, labor, materials, tools, equipment, and incidentals necessary to remove unsuitable foundation material within excavations for new storm or water utilities and structures. The unit contract price includes excavating, loading, hauling, temporary stockpiling, and properly disposing off site of unsuitable material from the trench bottom. For the purpose of establishing a common basis for evaluating bids, an arbitrary quantity has been shown on the bid form and does not necessarily represent the quantity, if any, of"Removal of Unsuitable Material" that may be necessary for project work. Actual quantities will be determined in the field as work progresses. Removal of unsuitable material work will only be conducted with approval from the Engineer. Furnishing imported replacement backfill material, Foundation Material Class A or B, from a Contractor-supplied source will be paid for under the associated aggregate bid item in the Proposal/Construction Contract. The unit Contract Price per cubic yard (CY) for "Controlled Density Fill (CDF)" shall constitute full compensation for all Work labor, materials, tools and equipment necessary to furnish, deliver, and place the CDF in accordance with the Specifications, COE Standard Drawings and the Plans.
