I
I
Icost of additional verification test piles and load testing shall be at the
Contractor's expense. At the completion of verification testing, test pile shall be
Iremoved down to the elevation specified by the Engineer.
I. : two in thc area of
I the digester and at least one battered pile under the Operations Building
Shcafwel-1, Perform proof load tests on the first set of production piles installed at
THE PUMP BUILDING each designated area prior to the installation of the
III remaining production piles in that unit. Upon completion of each test, the
Contractor shall submit a report of the test results for review and acceptance by
the Engineer.
I J. Proof test piles to a maximum test load of 1.67 times the micropile Design Load
shown on the Plans. Proof tests shall be made by incrementally loading the
micropile in accordance with the following schedule, to be used for both
Icompression and tension loading:
I Proof Test Loading Schedule
AL = Alignment Load DL = Design Load
LOAD HOLD TIME
I1 AL 1 minute
2 0.25 DL 1 minute
3 0.50 DL 1 minute
4 0.75 DL 1 minute
5 1.00 DL 1 minute
1 6 1.33 DL 60 minutes
Creep Test
1.67 DL
7 1 minute
I/ (Maximum Test Load)
8 AL 1 minute
K. Depending on performance, either a 10 minute or 60-minute creep test shall
Ibe performed at the1.33 DL Test Load. Where the pile top movement
between 1 and 10 minutes exceeds 1 mm, the Maximum Test Load shall be
maintained an additional 50 minutes. Movements shall be recorded at 1, 2,
I 3, 5, 6, 10, 20, 30, 50 and 60 minutes. The alignment load shall not exceed 5
percent of DL. Dial gauges shall be reset to zero after the initial AL is
applied.
IL. The acceptance criteria for micropile proof load tests are:
I 1. The Engineer shall determine the criteria for tolerable movement during
the load test at the top of the micropile.
2. At the end of the 1.33 DL creep test load increment, test piles shall have
I a creep rate not exceeding 0.05 0.04 inch/log cycle time (1 to 10 minutes)
or 0.1 inch/log cycle time (6 to 60 minutes).
