When <br /> connection is made with the main sewer or drain and the "Y" in the <br /> main sewer or drain is larger than the lateral, there must be a bell <br /> of the smaller pipe or reducer used, and in all cases where a hole <br /> is tapped in the main pipe there must be a bell of the lateral put <br /> in before starting with the lateral, and in all cases where small pipe <br /> connects to large pipe there must be a bell of small pipe or reducer <br /> used in bell of large pipe before starting with small pipe. No <br /> straight pipe will be permitted to be slipped into a larger pipe with- <br /> out first using a reducer or bell of smaller pipe. <br /> Section 15. LOCATION, CONSTRUCTION & INSPECTION. All side <br /> sewers running from the main sewer to all buildings, lands or premises <br /> shall be not less than 30" from any foundation wall of any building <br /> and if there be no foundation wall, not less than 30" from the outer <br /> lines of any footings, pilings or building supports. All side sewers <br /> shall have not less than 60" of cover at the curb line, or in a <br /> public alley 30" of cover at the property line, and 18" of cover on <br /> the private property. No side sewer which is laid generally parallel <br /> to the curb or curb line shall have less than 48" of cover between <br /> the curb or curb line and the sidewalk or sidewalk line, or less than <br /> 30" of cover between the sidewalk or sidewalk line and the property <br /> line. All cover measurements shall be based on the established grade <br /> or on existing improvements or shall be approved by the City Engineer. <br /> Sewer pipes in public areas shall be not less than 6" in <br /> diameter and shall be laid on a slope of not less than 1/8" per foot. <br /> Sewer pipes in private areas shall be not less than 4" in diameter <br /> and shall be laid on a slope of not less than 1/4" per foot.
