One Chief; three Battalion Chiefs; one Supt. <br /> Fire & Police Signals; one Asst. Supt. <br /> Fire & Police Signals; three Fire & Police <br /> Signal Technicians; one Fire Marshal; one Asst. <br /> Fire Marshal; one Master Mechanic; sixteen <br /> Captains, one of whom shall be used as Drill- <br /> master; one Chief Fire Alarm Operator; three <br /> Fire Alarm Operators; forty-one First Class <br /> Pipemen; one Second Year Pipeman. <br /> It shall be the duty of such officers and assistants in <br /> said department to perform the duties indicated by the name of <br /> their employment, and such other duties as the Chief of the Fire <br /> Department or Commissioner of Safety may authorize and direct. <br /> It shall also be the duty of every Fire Department employee of an <br /> rank to operate the signal room as directed by the Chief of the <br /> Fire Department or Commissioner of Safety. <br /> Section 16: FIRE HYDRANT DEPARTMENT <br /> There shall be the following named employee in the <br /> Fire Hydrant Department, to-wit: <br /> One Hydrant Repairman. <br /> It shall be the duty of such employee to perform the <br /> duties indicated by the name of his employment and such other <br /> duties as the Chief of the Fire Department or Commissioner of <br /> Safety may authorize and direct. <br /> Section 17: STREET PAINTING DEPARTMENT <br /> There shall be the following named employees in the <br /> Street Painting Department, to-wit: <br /> one Street Painter and one or more Day <br /> Laborers (part time) <br /> It shall be the duty of such employees to perform the <br /> duties indicated by the name of their employment and such other <br /> duties as the Commissioner of Safety and the Chief of Police <br /> ' shall, from time to time, authorize and direct. <br /> DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br /> Section 18: CITY ENGINEER DEPARTMENT <br /> There shall be the following named officers, deputies, <br /> assistants and employees in the office of the City Engineer, <br /> to-wit: <br /> One Engineer; one or more Associate Engineers; <br /> one or more Assistant Engineers; five Junior <br /> Engineers; one Senior Engineering Aide; three <br /> Engineering Aides; one Stenographer; one or more <br /> Inspectors (part time) . <br /> Said officers, assistants and employees shall perform <br /> such duties indicated by the name of their respective employment <br /> and such other duties as the City Engineer shall, from time to <br /> time, authorize and direct. <br /> -4- <br />
