All work within the limits of any street or <br /> alley must be prosecuted to completion with due <br /> diligence, and if, in the judgment of the inspector, <br /> any excavation is left open beyond a reasonable time <br /> he shall cause the same to be filled and the street or <br /> alley restored forthwith, and any cost incurred in <br /> such work shall be charged to the sewer contractor in <br /> charge of such work, and must be paid for before he <br /> shall receive any further permit. If any work done in <br /> pursuance of permit granted as heretofore prescribed <br /> be not constructed and completed in accordance with <br /> the plan filed, and to the acceptance of the inspector, <br /> and the licensed contractor shall refuse to properly <br /> construct and complete said work, notice thereof shall <br /> be given to the owner of the property for whom said <br /> work is being done and the City Engineer shall proceed <br /> to complete and connect said sewer in a proper manner, <br /> and the full cost of such work and materials necessary <br /> therefor shall be charged and become a lien against <br /> said property and shall be collected in the manner <br /> provided in Section 3 of this ordinance. <br /> Section 3: That Section 27 of Ordinance No. 3546 is <br /> hereby amended to read as follows : <br /> Section 27: LOCATION, CONSTRUCTION & INSPECTION <br /> All side sewers running from the main sewer to all <br /> buildings, lands or premises shall be not less than <br /> 30" from any foundation wall of any building and if <br /> there be no foundation wall, not less than 30" from the <br /> outer lines of any footings, pilings or building <br /> supports. All side sewers shall have not less than <br /> 601 of cover at the curb line, or in a public alley <br /> 30" of cover at the property line, and 18" of cover on <br /> the private property. No side sewer which is laid gen- <br /> erally parallel to the curb or curb line shall have <br /> less than 48" of cover between the curb or curb line <br /> and the sidewalk or sidewalk line, or less than 30" of <br /> cover between the sidewalk or sidewalk line and the <br /> property line. All cover measurements shall be based <br /> on the established grade or on existing improvements <br /> or shall be approved by the City Engineer. <br /> Sewer pipes in public areas shall be not less than 6" <br /> in diameter and shall be laid on a slope of not less <br /> than 1/8" per foot. Sewer pipes in private areas shall <br /> be not less than 4" in diameter and shall be laid, on a <br /> slope of not less than 114" per foot. Side sewers or <br /> private sewer lines connected to the public sewer <br /> system shall not be cut adrift nor abandoned without <br /> capping at the property line or as directed by the <br /> Inspector of Sewers and Plumbing. <br /> All sewer ditches must be open full length from the <br /> main sewer to the connection with the house or premises <br /> to be connected before calling for inspection, and must <br /> be left uncovered until inspected, provided if the <br /> enforcement of the above rule interferes with traffic <br /> on the street, such sewer or lateral shall be installed <br /> in such manner as the Inspector of Sewers & Plumbing <br />
