• <br /> • <br /> • <br /> (e) No gravity oil tank shall have an oil <br /> capacity in excess of two hundred and fifty (250) <br /> gallons when installed as an intergral part of a <br /> gravity supply tank system. <br /> (f) Storage tanks shall be equipped with an <br /> open vent extending from and above top of tank and <br /> provided with a return elbow. Vent openings and vent <br /> pipes shall be of ample size to prevent abnormal <br /> pressure in the tank during filling, but shall not be <br /> smaller than one inch pipe size , and proportionately <br /> larger for correspondingly larger supply tanks. Vent <br /> pipes shall be connected to the top of the tank and <br /> shall not extend through the top of the tank for a <br /> distance of more than one inch. Vent pipes connected <br /> to underground tanks shall be equipped with swing <br /> joint at the tank and at the point where it leaves <br /> the building. <br /> (g) No oil burner connected to a gravity oil <br /> tank having a capacity in excess of Twelve (12) <br /> gallons shall be located above the lowest story of the <br /> building in which installed, or be less than Ten (10) <br /> feet from any stove , furnace, boiler, or heating or <br /> heat radiating device. When the capacity of the <br /> gravity oil tank does not exceed Twelve (12) gallons, <br /> such tank may be located not less than Three (3 ) feet <br /> from such heating device ; PROVIDED, that gravity oil <br /> tanks of a capacity not in excess of Twelve (12) <br /> gallons mounted on the back of an oil circulating <br /> heater or range as provided bL the manufacturer as an <br /> intergral part of such heater or range , shall be per- <br /> mitted subject to the approval of the Fire Chief. <br /> No gravity oil tank shah_ be located more than thirty- <br /> six (36) inches above the oil burner to which it is <br /> connected. <br /> (h) Gravity oil tanks shall be securely <br /> fastened in place on a strongly constructed stand <br /> adequately secured against overturning. Such tanks <br /> installed inside buildings shall be mounted on a <br /> stand constructed of timbers not less than 4" x 4", or <br /> on a metal stand. <br /> (i) Gravity oil tanks of a capacity exceeding <br /> Three (3 ) gallons shall be constructed of galvanized <br /> steel or of open hearth steel or wrought iron painted <br /> on the outside with a good grade asphaltum paint. <br /> Tanks of a capacity exceeding Three (3 ) gallons, but <br /> not exceeding Sixty (60) gallons shall be of metal not <br /> less than No. 18 U.S. Standard Gauge in thickness. <br /> Tanks exceeding Sixty (60) gallons, but not exceeding <br /> Two Hundred Fifty (250) gallons capacity shall be of <br /> metal not less than No. 16 U.S. Standard Gauge in <br /> thickness. <br /> Underground storage tanks exceeding Two Hundred <br /> Fifty (250) gallons, but not exceeding Two Hundred <br /> Ninety-four (294) gallons capacity, shall be of metal <br /> not less than No. 12 U. S. Standard Gauge in thickness <br /> and weigh approximately Two Hundred Ninety (290) pounds. <br /> Tanks exceeding Two Hundred Ninety-four (294) gallons <br /> but not exceeding Five Hundred ( 500) gallons capacity <br /> shall be of metal not less than Ho. 12 U.
