Section 36; SAFETY GLASS. It shall be unlawful to operate any motor vehicle which is registered in the Mate of 'dwashington and which shall have been manufactured or assembled on or after January 1, 1938, unless such vehicle be equipped with safety glass wherever glass is used in partitions, doors, windows and wind- shields. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, corporation or association to sell any motor vehicle in the ►)tate of `yashington which shall have been manufactured or assembled on or after January 1, 1938, unless such motor vehicle be quipped with safety glass wherever glass is used in partitions, doors, windows and windshields. Any replacement of glass wherever glass is used in parti- tions, doors, windows or windshields of any vehicle after the effective date of this ordinance, upon any motor vehicle required by this section to be equipped with safety glass, shall be by the use of safety glass and it shall be unlawful for anyone to make or procure such replacement with other than safety glass. The term "safety glass" shall mean any product composed of glass, so manufactured, fabricated, treated or combined with other materials as substantially to prevent shattering and flying of glassfragments when struck or broken, or such other or similar transparent material as may be approved by the Mate Commission on Equipment; Provided, that "tempered" or "case hardened" glass shall not be deemed to meet the requirements of this section. Section 37: P AEWtATIC TIRES. It shall be unlawful to operate any vehicle unless the same shall be compl tely equipped, with pneumatic rubber tires; Provided, this section shall not apply to animal-drawn vehicles or to highway or roadbuilding equipment operated by the state, or by any county, city or other political subdivision, or under the direction or supervision of the state, or of any county, city or other political. subdivision, or farm tractors or heavy duty vehicles operating under valid special permits. Section 33; SAFETY CHAINS. It shall be unlawful to operate any vehicle upon the public highways of this city without having the load thereon securely fastened and protected by such safety chains or other device as may be prescribed by the State Commission on Equipment. erection 39: `VHEEL SPRAY. Every vehicle shall be equipped with a device adequate to effectively reduce the wheel spray or splash of water from the roadway to the rear thereof. Section 40; LIGHTING EQUIPTv1ENT. Every vehicle shall be equipped with lamps and illuminating devices as required by the Washington ,otor Vehicle act, and may be equipped with additional lamps and illuminating devices as permitted therein. All vehicle lamps and illuminating devices required by said act shall be lighted during the hours of darkness ; provided, that no lights need be displayed upon any such vehicle when parked upon any public highway of the city in accordance with the parking regulations of this ordinance if there is sufficient li0ht to reveal any person or object within a d. stance of five hundred (500) feet upon the highway. Any lighted headlamps upon a parked vehicle shall be depressed or dimmed. Section 41; STATE J. S IaNC0HPC/RATLD.
