CHAPTER IX <br /> TRUCKS, TRAILERS, ETC. <br /> Section 141: MAXIMUM WIDTH. The total outside width of <br /> any vehicle or load thereon shall not exceed eight (8) feet, except <br /> as provided by Section 47 of Chapter 6, shington Motor Vehicle Let. <br /> Section 142 : mAXIMUM HEIGHT. It shall be unlawful for <br /> any vehicle unladen or with load to exceed a height of twelve (12 ) <br /> feet and six (6) inches above the level surface upon which the <br /> vehicle stands. This section shall not apply to authorized <br /> emergency vehicles or repair equipment of a public utility engaged <br /> in reasonably necessary operation. <br /> Section 143: MAXIMUM LENGTHS, LOAD EXTENSIONS, CLEARANCE <br /> LIGHTS AND FLAGS, COMBINATION OF VEHICLES. <br /> (a) It shall be unlawful for any person to operate upon <br /> the public highways any vehicle having an overall length, with or <br /> without load, in excess of thirty-five (35) feet. It shall be <br /> unlawful for any person to operate upon the public highways any <br /> combination of vehicles which with or without load, has an overall <br /> length in excess of sixty (60) feet, or any combination of vehicles <br /> containing any vehicle which has an overall length in excess of <br /> thirty-five (35) feet. Said length limitations shall not apply to <br /> vehicles transporting poles, pipe, machinery or other objects of a <br /> structural nature which cannot be dismembered and operated by a <br /> public utility when required for emergency repair of public service <br /> facilities or properties but in respect to night transportation <br /> every such vehicle and load thereon shall be equipped with a <br /> sufficient number of clearance lamps on both sides and marker lamps <br /> upon the extreme ends of any projecting; load to clearly mark the <br /> dimensions of such load. <br /> (b) It shall be unlawful for any person to operate <br /> upon the public highway any combination of vehicles consisting of <br /> more than two (2) vehicles, as aefined by Section 49, Chapter 6, <br /> Washington Motor Vehicle Act. <br /> (c) The load upon any vehicle operated alone, or upon the <br /> front vehicle of a combination of vehicles, shall not extend more <br /> than three (3) feet beyond the front wheels of such vehicle, or <br /> the front bumper, if equipped with front bumper. <br /> (d) No vehicle shall be operated upon the public <br /> highways with any part of thee permanent structure or load extending <br /> in excess of fifteen (15) feet beyond the center of the list axle <br /> of such vehicle. <br /> Section 144: MAXIMUM ivEI GHTS. IT shall be unlawful <br /> for any person to operate any vehicle or combination of vehicles <br /> upon the public highways of this city when the operation of such <br /> vehicle or combination of vehicles fails to comply with the weight <br /> and brake requirements of Section 50, Chapter 6, Ivashington Motor <br /> Vehicle Act and the operation of any motor truck, trailer, or <br /> -42- <br />
