i <br /> E <br /> I CHAPTER XI <br /> 1 <br /> +: LICENSI:NG OF VEHICLES <br /> 1 Section 162: UNLAWFUL TO OPERATE WITHOUT LICENSE. It <br /> shall be unlawful for any person to operate any vehicle or park <br /> any vehicle on any street within the City of Everett without first <br /> having obtained and having in full force and effect a current and <br /> proper vehicle license and display vehicle license number as provided <br /> in the Washington Highway License Act: Provided, that these <br /> provisions shall not apply to farm tractors, and farm implements <br /> temporarily operating or drawn upon the public way from one farm <br /> , to another, and trailers used exclusively to transport farm implements <br /> +I from one farm to another during the daylight hours or at night <br /> l when said equipment has lights that comply with the law. <br /> '' Section 163: DISPLAY OF VEHICLE LICENSE NUMBER PLATES <br /> AND CURRENT LICENSE STICKER. The vehicle license number plates <br /> shall be attached conspicuously at the front and rear of each <br /> vehicle for which the same are issued and in such a manner that they <br /> can be plainly seen and read at all times. Each vehicle license <br /> Inumber plate shall be placed or hung in a horizontal position at a <br /> distance of not less than one foot nor more than four feet from <br /> the ground and shall be kept clean so as to be plainly seen and read <br /> I at all times: Provided, however, that in cases where the body con- <br /> istruction of the vehicle is such that compliance with this act is <br /> impossible, permission to deviate therefrom may be granted by the <br /> li state commission on equipment. It shall be unlawful to display <br /> 1 upon the front or rear of any vehicle, vehicle license number plate <br /> 11 or plates and/or current license sticker other than those furnished <br /> by the Director of Licenses for such vehicle or to display upon <br /> any vehicle ems- license number plate or plates or current <br /> E license sticker which have in any manner been changed, altered, <br /> disfigured or have become illegible. It shall be unlawful for any <br /> person to operate any vehicle unless there shall be displayed upon <br /> such vehicle two valid license number plates and current license <br /> sticker attached as herein provided, unless the jurisdiction <br /> licensing the same requires one plate only. <br /> { Section 164: UNLAWUL USE OF LICENSE NUMBER PLATES. No <br /> person shall transfer motor vehicle license plates from one vehicle <br /> to another unless lawfully authorized so to do. <br /> No person shall display upon the front or rear of any <br /> vehicle any number plate or current license sticker not authorized <br /> by law to be used by him on such vehicle ; or loan to, or permit <br /> to be used by another, any license or license sticker issued or <br /> t ! transferred to him. <br /> No person shall drive or operate a motor vehicle to which <br /> j is attached a trailer unless the legally authorized motor vehicle <br /> license number plates of such trailer are conspicuously attached <br /> to the rear thereof. <br /> IP <br /> , <br /> 1 <br /> 6 <br /> h <br /> 11 -49- <br /> 1' <br />
