•
Mr.Drew Martin
City of Everett Planning and Public Works
March 12,2019
File No.262018.055
Page 4
c. The shoring system shall be included in the Special Inspection Schedule on
Sheet SO.0 per IBC Section 1705.1.1.
d. The drawings shall specify temporary construction conditions as needed (e.g.,
no vehicle load on the parking deck during repairs, etc.). See IBC Section
107.2.1
Response: The delaminated concrete in Note 1 of the detail is believed to be
superficial. The note has been revised to indicate a 1.25" maximum depth of
removal. Shoring does not appear to be required for this work. At other
locations where shoring may be required, temporary shoring for the existing
structure during repair work will be contractor's means and method. See
response to Comment#3.
9. Detail 16/S.10 (Revised Detail 17/S.10) specifies replacement of the vertical
support connection for precast panels. The following comments shall be
addressed:
a. Calculations substantiating the design of the connection shall be submitted for
review. See IBC Section 1604.1.
Response: Detail 16/S.10 is 17/S.10 on re-submitted drawings. See enclosed
structural calculations. Also, note that these connections are intended to be
supplemental, rather than replacements. Note 4 has been added to clarify that
the supplemental connection is to be completed prior to cleaning the existing
connection. This will eliminate the risk of impairing the support capacity,
should the contractor inadvertently damage the connection during the
cleaning process.
b. Specify shoring requirements as needed for the panel. Shoring requirements
shall be similar to those stated in Comment 8 above. Where shoring is not
provided, calculations shall substantiate the remaining connections are adequate
for the temporary condition.
Response: Precast concrete panels are supported by both the existing
connections and the concrete floor. As noted in the response above, the
supplemental connection should be completed prior to repairing the existing
connection. Therefore, the requirement for a shoring system is not anticipated
during the connection repairs.
10. Detail 13/S.10 specifies replacement of the support connection for precast beam.
The following comments shall be addressed:
1-1 5 Reid iddleton
