We had previously spoken about the fact that in both of these scenarios, the main unit would need to be "owner <br /> occupied." I may have confused things on this matter, so I wanted to clear that up. I was previously under the <br /> impression that the Workman's wanted to keep the property as a rental property. I now understand that they are <br /> interested in getting these issues resolved as quickly as possible so that they can sell the property. It is my understanding <br /> that the owner occupied requirement was only relevant if the Workman's(or any subsequent owner)wanted to rent out <br /> the ADU as a separate unit, correct? In other words, if the attic is permitted as an ADU, in order for the ADU to be <br /> rented out to a third-party(separate "family"),the main unit would need to be owner occupied. But there is no need for <br /> the residence to actually be owner occupied (i.e.,the Estate does not need to "occupy"the property)to get the attic <br /> permitted as an ADU to address the violation, correct?Additionally, once the attic is permitted as an ADU,there is no <br /> need for the main unit to be owner occupied unless the ADU is being rented out, correct?One of the units has to be <br /> owner occupied,it does not have to be the main unit; <br /> If you all could come back to us with some options on how we can fix this,that would be great. Please let us know if <br /> there are any other solutions to this that haven't yet been considered, such as re-opening the attic ladder access. It is <br /> my understanding that the Workman's are open to considering all options to get this resolved as quickly as possible. It <br /> may be helpful if someone from the appropriate department could meet the Workman's at the property to advise them <br /> of their options and get a full understanding of the attic and what needs to be done to address it.
