Said officers, assistants end employees shall perform <br /> the duties pertaining to such office as indicated by the name <br /> of their respective employments, and such other duties as the <br /> Superintendent of Streets or Commissioner of Public Works shall, <br /> from time to time , authorize and direct . <br /> Section 21: WATER D}PARTIL NT. <br /> There shall be the following named officers, assistants <br /> and employees in the Water Department of the City of Everett, <br /> to-wit : <br /> One Superintendent (part time ) ; One Assisant Superin- <br /> tendent ; One Distribution System Jorenan; One Chief Clerk; One <br /> Inventory ''lerk; One Accountant ; Four Water Control Station <br /> Operators; One Headworks Operator; Two Senior Engineering Aids; <br /> Four Foremen; One ',:elder; One Blacksmith; One Blacksmith' s H:elpe ; <br /> One Inspector; One Assistant Inspector; Three Heavy Equipment <br /> Operators; Your Truck Drivers; One Iviachinist ; One Auto Repairman; <br /> One Assistant Auto Repairman; Two Servicemen; One Servicemen's <br /> Helper; One IYeter Repairman; One Carpenter; One Basin Patrolman; <br /> Fifteen Skilled Laborers; One Senior Engineer, and one or more <br /> Day Laborers (part ti-le ) , and a General Foreman. <br /> The Superintendent shall be in general charge and have <br /> supervision of the Water Department . The other officers, <br /> assistants and employees shall perform such duties as pertain <br /> to the nature of their office and as authorized and directed by <br /> the Superintendent of the ';eater System and Commissioner of Publi4 <br /> Works. <br /> Section 22: It is the purpose of this Ordinance to <br /> fix the number and description of the permanent assistants, <br /> deputies and employees in the various offices of the City of <br /> Everett, and nothing herein contained shall be construed so <br /> as to prevent the various officers and various heads of the <br /> Department of the City of Everett from employing, with the con- <br /> sent of the City Council , such additional employees, as , from <br /> time to time , may be necessary in the proper discharge of the <br /> duties of such offices , or from discontinving such temporary <br /> employees when the necessity therefor has ceased to exist . <br /> Section 23: The appointment of all employees in <br /> all Departments, where required by the City Charter, shall be <br /> madesubject to Civil Service regulations of the City of Everett; <br /> PROVIDED, in the event vacancies occur and there is no <br /> eligibility list from which said vacancy may be filled, tempora <br /> appointments may be made of persons without Civil Service stand <br /> ing. <br /> The Assistant City Attorney and the Stenographer in <br /> the City Attorney Department shall be appointed by the City <br /> Attorney . <br /> The City Clerk shall be ex officio Secretary of the <br /> Civil Service Commission. <br /> -6- <br />
